My dd is 20 months, and she has gone 2 days in a row now not wanting to nap. Does this mean that she will continue to do this? I still need my break during the day, so we continue on with 'quiet time' if she doesn't nap. I just want to know if it is around this age they start not wanting to nap?

My oldest daughter stopped napping around her 2nd birthday, but my younger daughter didn't stop napping until she was almost 5. I think it just depends on the child. If they are so crabby by 4 o'clock that they aren't functioning well, then they need a nap. If they are napping and you can't get them to bed before midnight, then they probably don't need a nap. I think the secret to weaning from a nap is to make sure the nap isn't too late in the day to interfere with bedtime, and (this one is tough) don't let them nap so long in the day if you are having trouble putting them to bed at night. It can be a tough time when they quit napping, but I think the "quiet time" is an excellent idea.

Yes, they are all so different that it is hard to say.
My son turns 3 in March and still has a nap most days. Although he seems to cope OK now if he happens to miss a nap (for example, if Granny comes to visit he won't sleep). On the days when he misses his nap I just try to get him into bed a little earlier in the evening. However, I am keen to keep the nap happening as long as possible for my own sanity (with a newborn in the house I need all the breaks I can get :) ).
I would continue giving the opportunity for a nap in case she needs it (the quiet time is a good idea). I have known kids who seem to have given up napping only to start needing it again a few weeks later.
My 3.5 yo cut them out this summer because we were so busy running all around that she just didn't get one regulary. It was time though, cause she could handle the day without getting cranky- If you're unsure take a test run for a few days and see how they are at the end of the day. If they fall asleep or if they are MONSTERS chances are they aren't ready  Kids at this age need about 12 hr.s of sleep a day if that's a helpful gage.

Dd is doing the same thing. She naps about every other day, unless at daycare then she takes a nap there. She will nap in the car but at home is a struggle. I am thinking that maybe we are on the no nap verge. I love naptime, not only for dd but for me.
