Both dh and I are the oldest in our families, so now that our siblings are getting married, we have kids for them to have in the wedding. Next month will be the third wedding with our kids in it. At my brother's, my oldest was 4 and he did a little poem at the reception:
Auntie Terina is the best
Auntie there ever could be.
She lets me feed
her dog, CC.
Uncle James dropped
Me from the grocery cart,
When we were shopping
At the Wal-Mart!
Congratulations on
Your Wedding day.
I love you both.
Hip hip hooray!
So it's cutesy and fine. Then at my youngest sil's, my oldest ds, now 6 did this one:
Auntie Carrie-Lynn is the best
Auntie there ever could be.
She loves music and horses
And she really loves me.
Uncle Andrew's intentions
Proved to be the best.
He loves my auntie more
Than the rest!
Congratulations on
Your Wedding day.
I love you both.
Hip hip hooray!
Notice a pattern? LOL
So now there's another wedding, another sil is getting married (to another Andrew LOL). But now that ds is 7, I want to let my 4 year old ds do the "Congratulations on Your Wedding day. I love you both. Hip hip hooray!" poem and have my 7 year old do something a little bit more mature. Does anyone have a good thing for this. I want sweet, humourous, clean (obviously), etc.
Some of the thoughts I've had are:
He always leaves the seat up, and leaves wet towels upon the floor
The toothpaste has no lid on, And he never locks the door!
She’s not that clean and tidy, Though she may sometimes delude
Leave things out at your peril, In a second they’ll have moved!
He’s a very active person, And he always wants to win
Where as she likes lazy days, he’ll try to drag her to the gym!
She romances him and dines him, Home cooked dinners and the like
She even knows his favourite food, And cooks for him every night!
She’s thoughtful when she looks at him - A smile upon her face
Will he look that good in 50 years, When his dentures aren’t in place?!
He says he loves her figure, And her mental prowess too
But when gravity takes her over, Will she charm him with her IQ?
They’re both not wholly perfect, But who are we to judge
He can be pig headed, and she won’t even budge!
All that said and done, They love the time they spend together
And I hope as I’m sure you do, That their love will last forever.
He’ll be more than just her husband, He’ll also be her friend
And she’ll be more than just his wife, she’ll drive him round the bend.
As we have all beared witness they took a solemn vow
This poem for .......... and ......... A married couple now
Or 1st Corinthians 13. But other than that, I'm at a loss. I don't really know if the first one is really appropriate for a 7 year old. He could do 1st Corinthians, that would be fine, and maybe he will. But I'd like him to be able to do something fun too. My 4 year old will be saying:
My Auntie Celia is the best
Auntie there ever could be.
She likes playing hide
And seek with me.
Uncle Andrew will
Sail the ocean blue.
I'm sure he'll take my aunt
With him too!
Congratulations on
Your Wedding day.
I love you both.
Hip hip hooray!
But I really want to find something great for my 7 year old. Memorization isn't a problem, and he can read pretty well, so he can take notes up there. I found the kids thoughts on marriage and thought about him reading them as if they were from his cl***. I don't know, I'm not crazy about that. So far I've just not been having much luck. So help me out ladies. I've got a month! LOL
