We just finished up homeschooling and chores. Nice quiet day - daddy is in Detroit again this week and my ladies' Bible study got cancelled for tonight. So I kicked back in my pj's thinking I'm going to play my addiction (Bejeweled-heehee) while the kids enjoy some downtime of their own and my daughter walks into the kitchen and curls up in my lap.
We proceed to have a conversation on how thankful she is that I have been praying for their mentors since they were little. She loves hers (she has about 6 - all serve a slightly different purpose in her life right now) and she is more blessed that they are all my close friends too. On Saturday night her new expressive signing leader had a handful of the girls spend the night with her - but on Sunday night our family was at their house for dinner because she needed my help/advice on some situations. I am just as close to her mentors as she is. Now I am sure there are some who would think this is an infringement of privacy but my daughter knows secrets are unacceptable. Her mentors will call and share with me if they feel it is something I should be informed and she knows that. Yet she shares all with them (and usually & eventually with me).
I guess I am just grateful for our situation. I am blessed that my daughter is surrounded by good & Godly women who have the same basic beliefs and desires as we do for Rae. I am blessed that she loves that they are my friends as well.
Our middle son's mentors are the same way. It is just such a relief to have those lifelines.
Anyone else want to share about their children's mentors?
