I heard about this yesterday and was just saying to my dad for such a popular star he did not get that much media coverage. It's such a shame that he has passed away but at least he is no longer in pain resting in the arms of our Lord.

He was such a major celebrity icon when I was a kid. I feel so old hearing about all these celebrities passing.... Well, they say it happens in threes...who will be next?

I can't believe he's gone. He was my favorite 80's star. If things happen in 3's he would actually be the 3rd legend to die this year. Aside from MJ, Farrah Fawcett also lost her battle with cancer.

Ooh, don't forget the OxiClean guy, Billy Mays, who died around the same time as Farrah in June. Also, don't forget Jet Travolta died in Jan ... Walter Cronkite in July ... John Hughes (Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, etc, Sixteen Candles...) in Aug....

I looked all of these up, and there are actually five pages of stars who've died this year, but most of them wouldn't be considered icons... at least in this modern day. Dom Deluise was another, and Bea Arthur... and there were at least two SNL people who died, not even very old. :???:

This 'has' been a big year, though. Last year the biggie was Heath Ledger, and the year before was Anna Nicole.

I don't believe Patrick Swazy was saved. I've found no testimony to make me think otherwise, which makes his passing so much sadder! [sadashamed] I read that he went to a Catholic school really early on in life, like kindergarten, but no mention of God or church since then. He referred to his cancer as 'some kind of cruel joke'. Very, very sad. [sadashamed]

It does make it sadder. Not just for Patrick but for all the people who have died without knowing Christ.

I dont know if you guys know of the british chef, who kind of started all the celebrity chef phenomenon, Kieth Floyd died the same day the news about Swayze dieing came out. He was known for drinking alot actually. I look at the lives of these celebrities and think, especially swayze, whose biography I just watched last week, that it so looks like the Lord is trying to get their attention. They seem to be searching and seeking but never finding, yk? Thats sad.

That's why I tell the kids we are the examples of Christ and we need to share the Good News cause some people don't know Him we need to PLANT THE SEED [crossheld]
