View Full Version : ok going out of my mind!!! update!
1Cor13 12-13-2006, 07:47 PM I dont know what is wrong with McKenna, but she is crying almost non-stop, she stops when she tires herself out and fall asleep, I dont know what is wrong. she is hardly sleeping at night and seems always hungry .sometimes taking like 10oz in 1 hr! she woke up at 8am this morning and i have had to hold her almost all day, it almost 8pm at night and she has only sleep a total 2 hrs today.
I can t totally understand baby shaken .. Iam going batty.
she wont settle. I switched her formula to soy cause hse seemed to always spit up sour chunks from the regular formula.
I am ready to take her to Emerg ! I bought these colic drops. they dont seem to help.. on top of that my other dd is sick with a bad cold and being a drama queen and having trouble breathing, due to the cold. she gets asthma
love2bmom 12-13-2006, 07:56 PM First off take a deep breathe and find a quiet corner & pray...! Next can DH take her for a little to give you a breather. Do you think she is having belly pinchers? Is she running a fever? I will be praying for you sweety.. just if you feel overwhelmed take a minute to re-group!
Hugs!!
Cheeseburger 12-13-2006, 08:34 PM She may be allergic to something in the formula?? We had a horrible experience the one time we used formula. It made Katherine's stomach hurt and she screamed for 4 days straight (until exhaustion, then not sleeping very long) until she pooped it out. We don't know what was bothering her about the formula - we just avoid it and stick with breast milk now.
1Cor13 12-13-2006, 08:39 PM what is belly pinchers???
love2bmom 12-13-2006, 08:44 PM Gas pain... Have you tried to hold her belly down on your forearm? This pushes on the belly and sometimes helps to relieve the pain. Baby gas meds work.. I am praying for you sweety. I never used formula, so I don't know how to help on that subject, but regardless I hope she starts to feel better. Did you try to take her for a ride?
Let us know!! Hope something works!!
BlessedMommy 12-13-2006, 09:21 PM It sounds like it could be an allergy. I remember clearly, the first and the last time that I ate regular pizza while breastfeeding, Hannah fussed and cried until 3:30 in the morning. I haven't had the courage to eat it since and that was in October. And just as breastfeeding babies can be sensitive to something in mom's diet, formula fed babies can be sensitive to the formula.
Hope that you figure out what's bothering her.
AngieBlessedby3 12-13-2006, 11:16 PM How old is your baby?
Kensbev 12-13-2006, 11:33 PM Might be the new formula, might be something else. I laugh about this now, but I was at the end of my rope when I did it. I couldn't tell WHY my little girl was crying, but she was clearly not equipped to settle herself yet, and after several hours of tears, I dosed her with Tylenol! She finally passed out for a couple of hours, woke up in a much better mood.
Do you give her formula exclusively, or just as a BM supplement? If it's just as a supplement, think about what you've eaten in the past few days, and if it's something you don't normally have, she might be having a bit of a reaction to something you ate. If you're formula full-time, you may need to take her to the doc. It sounds like she was having trouble with milk-based formula, but if she's allergic to soy, all I can think of that's left is goat's milk formula. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/3/t032401.asp
It's another option, anyway.
I wish i could come over and help you, sounds like your hands are full.
If you think the little one has tummy cramps, a warm bean bag (or a hot water bottle) - just ensure it is sealed properly - on the tummy may help.
Another product we have here that i think has hit America, is Rooibos Tea. (it is competely caffine free, taste greats, and normally helps with the tummy too, lots of moms i know gave their babies Rooibos tea - especially the collic ones. Hope you find some.
Will be praying for your whole family.
PS try not be too hard on your daughter, i have suffered from ashma, and it is really not pleasant when you feel you are struggling to breath - it is a vital function, and it is stressfull when you wonder if you will still be breathing in an hour or 2. Can you place her on the Neboliser / ventiliser to help?
Bekah 12-14-2006, 07:27 AM Sounds like it could be a milk protein intolerance... or it could also be reflux. It sounds like your baby is doing everything our son did last year... It was hard. He never slept. He threw up everything. He had a nasty nasty rash on his bum because he pooped diarrhea before and after every feeding. He would scream and arch his back when he was eating.
We did use Soy formula for a little while but didn't see a difference. And then we tried the hypoallergenic stuff... It worked okay but he still had problems. At one point I had even tried to relactate.
I would definitely give the doctor a call even if you just chat a bit and maybe get some reassurance.

Katherine had a problem with me eating tomato products at first too! i avoided them for about 4 months, but now she is absolutely fine when I eat them. I think maybe her tummy wasn't mature enough to handle it.... maybe when Hannah is a little older you can give it another go ;)
Godzgirl 12-16-2006, 03:14 PM Will be praying for you sweetie! Keep us posted.
1Cor13 12-17-2006, 07:48 PM ok FINALLY Mckenna seems better she is still colic. but after trying 3 different formulas we come to think she had a reaction to the cows milk. and maybe the proteins were to big in the soy. we are using Nutramigen
Hypoallergenic for babies with cows milk allergy and colic. I am still breastfeeding, Her latch is not the greatest.
but after 3 days she is calmer!! praise the Lord.. a lil peace.
thanks for the prayers
Godzgirl 12-18-2006, 09:41 PM so glad she is feeling better! :D
Sounds like you have had a real trial!
Glad you got it sorted. You must have been so exhausted!
I had Matilda fussing for only 2 days when she had gastro along with the rest of the family and that was bad enough ....
Hope things continue to improve
