My little guy is seeming very interested in trying some solids, more so than Hannah was at his age, iirc. Sometimes he seems like he is downright complaining that we are not sharing our food, lol. He also shows most if not all of the other developmental readiness cues.

I think that when he turns 6 months (in 2 days!), I'm going to let him start trying a little bit of our food. I'll take it good and slow, though, as I want to nurse to at least 2 years.

With Hannah, at first, I tried introducing foods one at a time, then I kind of threw caution to the wind and did whatever.

Which way do y'all do and why? Do you do foods one at a time for a few days or not?

I did whatever except for foods which myself & my family has a history of allergies with. Those i held off until at least 1 yr and then introduced them carefully. Katherine did have a problem with milk constipating her which seems to have mostly resolved itself...

Payton acted that way right around 6 months, he'd just stare at us and get excited with each bite we took thinking he was getting some, he'd cry and fuss when he didn't get any and he did wonderful right off the get-go once we started giving solids. We did introduce just a few foods at first then just dove in and he had it all (except for those foods that experts suggest waiting on).

I introduced one at a time and then stopped later on. On the higher allergy foods I was once again more careful

We started out with one new food every two days or so except for the ones that cause allergies - those we did last and slowly. Actually, neither of them has had shrimp yet (which dh is allergic too) but they both love all the fruits my sister has to be careful with. Neither of them ever took a liking to peanut butter, which we waited a while to try just because nuts are a high allergy food (not in my family, just in general).
We played it a little faster and looser the 2nd time around, partially because we were more comfortable some experience under our belts and also because S has always been such a voracious little eater when it came to solids. He didn't spend much time on baby food at all, he went almost straight to table foods - in fact if I had known he'd have such an easy time transitioning to table foods I'd have skipped baby food altogether; his older brother did fine with baby food but gave us a couple of choking scares with table food in the beginning so we transitioned our oldest more slowly.

It is so cute/funny how even in their eating habits children are different from one another, I just love all the little ways kids show you their preferences and individuality as they grow -so similar and so different. A loves milk but S cannot stand it, S loves ketchup and A avoids it like the plague, S loves meat, always has - even as a baby, but A is still so picky about his proteins.
