I am new here but hoping to get some help from those who are experienced at potty training boys. My husband says he thinks it might be best to go ahead and use boxers since "they" say it is better for men to wear boxers. I just wonder if it makes any difference when potty training, if one is better than another for any reason. Does anybody have any experience with this or would you be willing to share if you debated which one to use and why you chose one over the other?

Thank you.

we liked the padded Gerber cotton trainers, and they lasted through all 3 boys. They only come in brief, but you can get ditto daddy trainers in a boxer brief.

Personally, I don't care what 'they' say. My kids aren't going to be procreating anytime soon. I let them choose when the time came. Eldest prefers boxers, middle doesn't care as long as it's got cars on it, and youngest likes briefs.

TOTALLY voted for boxers and would a million times if it would let me! ha! it gives them the feeling of 'nothingness'. You know how some people do the naked training and put briefs on and they wet/poop in them? Well if you put on boxers, they still feel less restrained, less diaper-like. This is what put Trevor over the edge into the "potty-trained" catergory!!!

In all total honesty, I say neither. Wasn't an option, so I didn't vote.

It's too much trouble for some cumbersome children to pull down shorts and undies. With nothing, they have ONE thing to pull down.

There are times the boys wear their undies, and then they usually don't have on shorts. When they do wear them, it's which ever they prefer at the time in the boxer/brief debate

Big ds usually wears briefs. I guess I will let little ds pick when his time comes, too. Honestly I don't even remember seeing boxers in big ds' size when it was time to shop for his underwear (2+ yrs ago) and he likes them so we will probably stick with them for a while.

You could always get your ds boxer-briefs as a compromise. I know I have seen those.

I agree... I think my husband said he thought maybe if our son got used to wearing boxers from the beginning... he wouldn't have to switch later if he thought he should and wanted to! :) So I thought I'd see what others have done or preferred before making a decision...
