Do you make it? I do :-D I make lunch even for Valorie who's in college. I make it everyday for them. I just want to make sure they are eating and don't want them to waste money on yucky food that's OVER PRICED

Gabe is only in fourth grade, but I'm sure I'll still be making his lunch.
He can't stand school food.

I don't make my kids lunches, except for the youngest (6). I found it frustrating to take the time to make the lunches only to have most of the food come home. So now the kids make their own lunches, although I do look it over to make sure they are taking something healthy. My highschooler . . . yeah, well, she doesn't exactly eat lunch.

I just don't like wondering what I'm gonna make for them, they never get the samething twice in a week. Maybe every 2 weeks I'll give them money to eat off campus. They don't leave it gets delivered :-D

My high schooler has said that he doesn't have time to stand in the long lines for lunch, so he ends up buying a PB & J...umm...don't really want to pay for something I can make at home. I guess I'd better start packing him a lunch!

James is only in grade 1, so I make his lunch. But he gets the same thing every day. So far no complaints. Well that's not true. He would like to take peanut butter, but his class is peanut free (in his school, it's not completely peanut free, just the classes with an allergy). So we have to watch that. The only thing that changes is when I buy a new case of juice boxes and he gets a different one, or when I make (or forget to make) cookies and have to come up with something different. The fruit usually is apples, except at this time of year, I'll send a mandarin orange. I'm so boring! LOL

My kids are at home, but they do make their own lunches. However, since they started making their own, there have been strict rules. I suppose I'd be willing to shake things up now that three of them are teens, but they've never asked, so.. we just let sleeping dogs lie. heehee!
Our kids have either a half or a whole sammich, fresh fruit and raw veggies, and one palm-full of chips or pretzels (if they want them) every day. I've 'made' them eat the fruit and veggies, no matter what, since they were toddlers. Totally habit now. If they really aren't hungry (now that they're older; not when they were little) I'll allow them to just have fruit and veggies, but no chips if they claim to not be hungry enough for their sammy. When they were little and still growing their immune systems, I was especially just trying to keep them healthy (and keep their digestive systems moving properly!). As they've gotten older, I guess I think mostly about their focus for school. I don't want their blood sugar crashing and schoolwork going down the toilet. :???:
So, for sammies, we do PB and J (different kinds of J), and I put together different sammy spreads each week. Sometimes I make egg salad. Very occasionally I'll mix up some albacore, but not very often because of the mercury. But the spreads I do every week are made from our meat leftovers. I put the meat in my food processor and get it to about the consistency of tuna out of the can, and then add mayo and maybe onion and or celery, or other saucy type stuff and seasonings... sometimes fruit like grapes and or apples if it's chicken, and sometimes throw in some nuts or seeds (i.e., to leftover chicken, I'll maybe add mayo, curry powder, red grapes, granny smith apple (cut small), and pecans.. delcious!). That's about it. If we don't have any leftover meat, I'll buy chicken or turkey breast, or turkey ham, and make the spread out of that. BTW, the reason I do spreads instead of slicing is because they stretch much further!
A side note: I do make hubby's breakfast and lunch, too. He gets the same thing as the kids. Breakfast is homemade breakfast bread of sorts and fruit, and lunches are the same as the kids'. [thumbsupgrin]
If anyone has other sammich ideas, I'd love to hear them! Hubby and the kids never complain, but sometimes I get bored of the same old things. I do look online for different ways to make my meat spreads, but they're still spreads. LOL! And I'm pretty much against doing leftovers for lunch. I like to keep lunch lunch, and dinner dinner. I'm funny that way.

Wow Joy! You have it down to a science.
Last night I told my oldest I would make him lunch today, he left for school, and I realized that neither one of us remembered to pack him a lunch! I guess this is a new habit I am going to have to acquire!!!

Joy, I've never done meat spreads :???: I wonder if they'd like that :-D
I do try to make them different things cause I know I get tried of the same thing all the time [halo]

Joy, your lunch ideas sound wonderful! I never thought about using my leftover meats and turning them into spreads. That sounds really good! You mentioned mixing up lunch a little, have you ever thought about adding hummus with your veggies? I noticed that you said you already had a food processor and that might be a way to incorporate additional protein as a dip for veggies?
Hugs!
