View Full Version : Do you pick your childs nose?
I'm sorry I can't stand a boogie nose. I get that's gross(did I spell that right) comments all the time when I pick those little suckers out of my sons nose. Is this a mommy thing or not.

my thoughts are, they can't do it yet themselves, why not help 'em out a bit!

My thoughts exactly I hate a nasty nose and then they wipe it every where so why not help the kiddos out. My SIL doesn't mind when her kiddos run around with icky noses but I can't stand it.

If katherine has a huge booger RIGHT THERE, or hanging half out, I will go ahead and help her.- I already learned that if I don't, she'll eventually sneeze and propel it across the room - i take preventative measures rather than have my carpet peppered with boogers. LOL
it's a gross business to be sure. I don't expect her to take care of her own poo or spit-up, so why would I expect her to deal with her nose either??

Yes, i definetly pick my kids noses.  Dh always comments how he hated when his mom did that to him (so i'm guessing it is a momma thing). How else are you going to get them out?
all the time LOL. my kids are notorious for booger noses so to help them breathe better i will pick it.

Well, a nasal aspirator (or a booger extractor as I like to call it ) but sometimes they don't work so well...then I use my finger! LOL

Boogers, vomit, poop, who knew such tiny, sweet babies could be olympian bodily function throwers! AAHH, mommyhood!

I always help Rhyanne out. She isn't old enough to understand the concept of blowing her nose. I think in many ways it is irresponsible for a parent to let their child's nose run and not wipe it. Would you let your child sit in a dirty diaper because you didn't want to wipe poop off their tush?

LOL oh this thread cracked me up girls!!
Thankfully, this has been a rarity. Only when they're teeny do I need to bother with this.
But right now..eww, I'm rather grossed out at this topic. I have a sick 5 yr old..he's the one who has always gotten just g-r-o-s-s when sick. I mean the green slime oozing from the notrils every time you look at him *gag*
I can't even bring myself to help him wipe/blow anymore. It's so disgusting. All day long I say "go wipe your nose, and Germ X when you're done!" eww eww eww ew ew
Of course, when it's THIS bad, he can't always do a sufficient job. But, no *picking* there, oh no, just getting a wet wipe to clear away the slime, lest he smear it from ear to ear *gag*
Ok, now that I've grossed myself out again, I'll end LOL

Totaly agree...when they get to the point they can clean their nose or have green gunk coming out believe me I will not be sticking my fingers in that.

I used to work in childcare and the kids did this all the time. The worst was the kid who did'nt want to stop what they are doing to get a tissue and would use their hands.*double gag*
Ok now I'm visualizing this and Im going to be sick.
