Victoria Stankus, a new author from Illinois, has taken on the challenge of explaining the traditional ordinance of The Lord's Supper (also known as Communion) in a way that can be more easily understood to children of various ages.

The title of the book she wrote is "What is Communion?" It includes a simple explanation of what Communion is, based on a Protestant Evangelical view. It also explains who Jesus is, why He came to earth, why He sacrificed Himself on a cross, and simple steps for trusting in Jesus as Savior. It is intended for parents or teachers to read to (or with) their children and discuss along the way.

Those with special learning needs may also be able to benefit from this book, as it includes a combination of simple, black & white illustrations and easy words. Victoria originally wrote this book for her children, one of which has autism.
This book is special to Victoria for various reasons, one of which is that her father, Dr. James L. McIntosh (Academic Dean of Brookes Bible Institute in St. Louis, MO), was the main illustrator. Also, her husband, David Stankus (who has a Bachelor's degree in Communications) took on the job of being her Copy Editor; and a previous pastor and friend of theirs, Rev. Gary E. Gilley from Southern View Chapel in Springfield, IL, wrote the Foreword. Pastor Gary is the author of several of his own Christian titles, including "Is That You Lord?"

Victoria personally accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age. She believes children can understand what it means to be a sinner and to have a need to be reconciled to God. It is her desire that this book be used as a helpful tool to explain communion to children (and adults, too) and give them a better understanding of their need for Christ.
