View Full Version : unique names?
savedbygrace 07-04-2009, 03:46 PM What are some unique names that you've heard of? Maybe you liked them maybe you didn't but you thought that they were different!
Of course since I look for Biblical names, you always find some strange ones but some that I saw and actually liked are:
Hadassah (Haddy for short)
Selah
Zapporah (zippie for short)
and for a boy of course:
Justus (which i'm considering)
I'm sure there are more, but can't think of them at this moment
Ashlee 07-04-2009, 06:27 PM I like Hezekiah.. could be Ky for short. Thats all I can think of for now.
Cheryl 07-04-2009, 09:52 PM Nevaeh (Neh-vay-uh)
It's a little girl's name at our church. It's heaven spelled backwards.
Our pastors have named all their children "obscure J Biblical names." One is Jakin [jay-kin] (a pillar of the temple), Jorah, and Janae (not sure how they spell her name.)
kanaclark 07-05-2009, 12:57 AM With Bri, we considered Dominique Storm or Izabella Raine. Dom and Izzy aren't different names, but Storm and Raine are, LOL.
Cheryl, my cousin's little girl's name is Emily Neavah. Emily is after my mom and my cuz wanted to name her Emily Heaven, but his wife didn't like that, and she turned it around. They didn't know it was really a name, she thought she was making it up, until I told her about a pizza place near me that's Neavah's Pizzaria. It's a family name for the family who owns the place.
Esther, I love the name Justus. It's so strong sounding. Like dominique. They're both STRONG MANLY names, LOL. Love them.
savedbygrace 07-05-2009, 01:31 AM thanks Kana!
Nevaeh is really big right now! i think it's pretty.
Blessed 2 B Zoe 07-05-2009, 04:23 AM I too like unusal names hence Sinead Tegan lol but they are not biblical, just irish.
I will have to have a scan of the bible to see if I can find some lol.
savedbygrace 07-05-2009, 10:57 AM They don't have to be Biblical.

I love Niamh, if I ever have any more children I would love a little girl named Naimh.
I remembered another family name... Lafronia- Luh-fro-nya. Weird, huh? These are names from my Conch (Key West) relatives who came up from the Bahamas. They had some unusual names!
Webster5 07-06-2009, 05:23 PM One of my friends from Church named their little girl Selah.
Tammyn4As 07-07-2009, 02:05 PM My favorite tiger when I worked at the was named Neva pronounced like Nevaeh, just thought I would throw out a different spelling. It means snow when spelt that way.

That reminded me of a family where I grew up (BC) who named all their kids with ocean names. The only two I can remember is their son Finn and daughter Naeco (ocean spelled backwards). They had more kids though.. I just can't think of their names!

Tatum
Konner (for a girl)
Tara : LOL : just teasing!
JoyLynn 07-08-2009, 06:52 PM Okay, I'll weigh in on my opinion, too!
I love the name Justus. It reminds me of my hubby's name. And I also love the name Selah! We named our kitten Selah Praise. heehee! I'd have saved it for another girl if we could have more, but I'm out of chances. I've heard Selah pronounced Say-lah and See-lah. We went with See-lah and call her Se-Se (see-see). [cheerful]
I have a girlfriend who named her kids Trinity and Christian. I just love those names. What a testimony. heehee!
Names of other friends' kids (all girls names).... Destiny and Melody. Jocelyn. Shelby. Tierra. Bethany. Shenelle. Corinne. Tatiana. Annalee. Jillerie (that was a friend of mine in jr. high). Arielle. Elaina. Christalyn. Aurora. Makelle (don't know the spelling on that one). Delaney. [whatthink] Okay, I guess that's it for now.
[lovesign]
Joy [welcomewave]

HA!
Tammyn4As 07-08-2009, 11:45 PM since we had gone with all A names if Aidan had been a girl his name would have been Arwen. Heard it in Lord of the Rings and loved it! She was an elf princess and was supose to be the most beautiful person ever.
savedbygrace 07-09-2009, 12:47 AM Oh I have to add Ender. My BIL and SIL got the name from some sci-fi book. His name is Jack Ender
Blessed 2 B Zoe 07-09-2009, 03:19 AM Not sure if this one has been mentioned, I have early morning mom brain lol. I like Coral for a girl, and also Savangh (not sure how you spell it).
One unsual 1 at Sineads school is John-Rap
Kellen, kinda like Helen but with a K
Oray this would be a boys name
Harley (boys)
Hosea (boys)
Hope (girl)
Zea (girl)
Ashlee 07-09-2009, 09:41 AM This is kind of different but *if* we have another girl we will be giving her the middle name Love. Gabriella's middle name is Faith, Azalia's middle name is Hope, and so we thought we'd keep the theme.
Tammyn4As 07-09-2009, 11:47 PM I love Oray! I think of Oray Maine from the North and the South. I loved that miniseries (as many of my facebook friends probably know from my recent pics of the plantation where it was filmed!)
krazee4jc 07-20-2009, 01:23 AM Oray....my brother just named his baby that :-D last week
