Ive read a few different books about missionaries or testamonies over the years but have NEVER read anything as amazing or compelling as the story of Jackie Pullinger. She is a british woman who went to Hong Kong's walled city in the 60's and witnessed to all kinds of drug addicts, pimps, gang lords, prostitutes, etc and her work still goes on to this day, has grown from ABSOLUTELY nothing. Her book about it is called Chasing the Dragon. AMAZING. If you can get a copy of it ... read it!
She wanted to be a missionary. No missionary society would take her on. So, she asked a pastor for his advice. What he told her to do was to take all the money she had and buy a boat ticket to the farthest place she could afford and pray she would know when to get off. She had had a vision of a woman with her arms out beseeching her to come and help them, but didnt know where it was she was to go. So, she got off in Hong Kong with no money and no job. She did meet up with some other christians but really came into her own when she started REALLY witnessing, so simply, to drug addicts.
The way she trusted God is amazing. And I want to be like that, I get it. I know Im not called to be a missionary somewhere in a third world country or anything like that, but that kind of faith and Knowledge of God is a reality that can be lived by ANYone, I know it.

Anyway... this started out with me wanting to read more about missionaries and if anyone read any good books about em lately. Not just missionaries but good and proper christian testamonies, read any good ones lately. Any that really moved you? Let me know!
