Well, we made it to 33.5 weeks with no signs of preterm labor...
(which I'm thankful we made it this far!)
DH and I slept in today and just let ourselves wake up whenever our bodies told us to. I got up and just starting reading. Well, I started feeling crampy and having lower back pain. I felt this way a little bit over the weekend, but was able to rest it off. I just couldn't shake it today though. So I called the doc and the covering OB wanted to see me right away (my doc was gone today).
Around 2 we headed into her office. She checked me out and said she thought she felt the sack but could definitely feel her head... So with that, she called the Perinatal Assessment Center (PNAC) at the hospital and had me go over there asap (it's where I went for all my high risk stuff before so I was familiar with it).
The doc there did a full scan... she is measuring RIGHT on target with everything. Yay! She is healthy as they can tell. About 4 1/2 lbs. He then did a transvag U/S and said my cervix looked long, tight, and closed. But he still wanted me to be monitored since I wasn't feeling any better what so ever. So off to L&D I go... (it's two steps away from the PNAC).
It took forever but I finally got in and all hooked up. Contractions were 2-5 minutes apart at that point. And my DH looked at the charts and it said Grace is engaged at -4. So not way down but certainly adding pressure. The doc did another check and said I was 1 - 1.5 cm dilated. So they hooked me up to IV fluids (no meds). That stopped the ctx. Although my back is still hurting.
As for the other doc feeling the membranes, they think she could have felt mucous, and didn't push it in fear of breaking it. But the U/S didn't show any threat of the sack being in the cervix either.
The doc checked my cervix again and it hadn't changed. So they sent me home. And here I am, hungry, aching, and wishing pg pains were clear cut and more understandable. (Gee, my back hurts, my belly feels tight, and there's pressure... could be that I'm in the last phase of pg OR that I'm in preterm labor!?)
Anyway, I see my regular OB tomorrow. I'm afraid she'll put me on bedrest and not want me to go to Michigan this week for our first baby shower. I guess we'll see. Obviously, baby baking and being healthy is far more important than the shower... I mostly fear my IL's reactions and disappointing my DH. He could go in my stead. :-D Haha!
Anyway, sorry for the book. Just wanted to update you all and ask for prayers!
