I am posting my birth plan, please feel free to comment on it if you think I over looked something. If you have had a C-section and something happened that made it better or worse let me know so I might revise my plan.

I prefer a spinal for pain relief during my c-section

I would like my catheter placed after the anesthesia is administered.

Please administer as small amount of sedative medication as possible

Once my baby has been delivered I would like to have at least one arm not strapped down

I would like to see my baby once delivered, Please show me about the sterile drape

Once able I would like to have my baby placed skin to skin on my chest and possibly be able to nurse during my surgery closure (I have to see if this is ok with my OB still...I have heard it's been done at the hospital I am going to though)

I would like my baby to remain with me in the OR as long as possible

I prefer dissolvable sutures and steri strips

Please no bathing the baby until after my recovery and I can be part of it.

Yes, our baby is allowed eye ointment and Vit. K shot
Please no Hep B Vax or any other Vax

please no pacifiers or bottles (we will be nursing)

Please no glucose water or formula unless discussed with me first.

I pm'd you, if you are going to the same hosp. as I had my boys then a lot of things on your list they do and will honor your wishes. Just be assertive and make sure they know that is what you want :)
I am so excited for you!

Aww counting down you are almost done. :-D I like the catheter after pain meds. I remember the nurse saying it was no big deal and me thinking  it was very uncomfortable. Good idea. The only thing I wish I had asked is if they used single or double stitches. I guess double stitches are better, but they often use single because it is faster. :?:

I talked with my lactation consultant and was really encouraged. She gave me more of a plan for the breastfeeding aspect of a C-section. This is going to be added to my plan

Express colostrum before surgery and rub it into upper chest

After baby is delivered baby will be placed on my upper chest and will have her get my flora and smell on her face/lips. She doesn't have to
nurse

Once in recovery (as far as I know they don't allow babies in recovery) dh will do more skin to skin with baby in the nursery.

If needed I will have colostrum in the fridge for dh to finger feed baby

Once out of recovery my lactation specialist will be there to help get baby to breast right away.
