Ok - any home remedies for a cold?? I have a bit of a nagging cold and don't really want to use medication for it if possible. I seem to have been through most of the runny nose/sore throat stage although still dealing with it a bit. Now am being kept awake all night with my cough (not to mention keeping DH awake as well!)
Any suggestions with how to heal a persistent cough?? It is a bit chesty and dry - feels like I have a tickle in my throat all the time.
Anyway - thanks for helping!

put vicks on the bottoms of your feet and then cover with socks. I also get a cough drop and leave it in the pocket of my cheek during the night.
I don't have any natural remedy advice, but I sure am sorry you have a cold~ :( Big hugs Ali!

Just the usual advice - lots of rest, chicken soup and some OJ. And then some more rest! Tea with honey also helps me when my throat feels scratchy or dry from coughing.

I would not use vicks during pregnancy - The camphor in it can cross the placenta and potentially result in fetal poisoning, of course it takes a lot of camphor to do that, but, just be careful.

For a cough/sore throat- I mix honey, lemon juice and hot water for a nice "hot lemon" effect. For nasal congestion- get one of neti pots... and pour warm salt water ... clears ya out great...

Thanks ladies - I seem to be much better now - have been having plenty of hot water with lemon juice and honey drinks and they really do work great! Did use Vicks but mainly just the inhaler thing that you insert just inside your nose passage and breathe in to clear the nose - really helped just before going to bed at night!
