View Full Version : How Early Did You *Know*?

Did you just *know* you were pregnant? With the twins, I just *knew*... I remember that much... With Eliya, I wasn't so sure... I felt like AF was coming any day, then I got the BFP. I'm not saying I *feel* like I'm pregnant right now... I just wanted to know from you guys, out of curiosity, how soon you guys knew you were pregnant... and... what was your big "sign" that you were. Everyone's different. My first real symptom with Eliya, even before the BFP (and I thought it was an odd pre-AF feeling) was tingly nips. Anyway... I was just curious~ ;)

It wasn't the same for me each time, either, Jen. :-D With Scotty, I was sure AF was on her way. I was so crampy and miserable, I was feeling extremely PMS'y and sad because I was pretty certain it hadn't happened for us our first time around. I was wrong, though. I tested with my parents two or three days after my missed period.

With Carissa, I knew a week early when I went from 99 pounds to 106 in a week's time without changing my eating habits. I still didn't test until I'd missed my period. Actually, I think I tested on day 28.

With Courtney... that one's a long story with me winding up in the hospital being told I was pregnant with a non-viable ten week pregnancy, and that I was going to be moved to the third floor for a D&C. I'd woken up in the middle of the night with such horrible cramps that I wondered if I was preggers with a tubal pregnancy. That's how I ended up at the hospital. I had actually tested again and again over the months prior, but I couldn't get a positive result, and I bled every couple of weeks, so I thought I was miscarrying.

With Chloe', Justin and I both knew at conception. We'd gotten pregnant our first month out of the barn with each baby, but with this one we both knew in our spirits the first night and didn't 'try' further. I also began having morning sickness with puking and the whole nine yards a week before I missed my period. I felt pretty good about testing early with that one.

I think overall, I usually had a hard time distinguishing between PMS symptoms and pregnancy. I usually felt really crampy, especially on one side. Well, with Carissa I didn't feel much of anything, but with the others, my uterus ached and I either had implantation pain, or my ovary hurt where the corpus luteum cyst was growing. Don't know which it was, but ouch! That was always disturbing for me.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing all that, Joy!!! I really enjoyed reading your different experiences! That's pretty crazy that you wound up at the hospital with Courtney! Wow! With Helen, I remember thinking that I just felt "off" even after my BFP, so I went in for a check up... and she was behind gestation going off my LMP, so we went in every week there for a while and we were told she wasn't growing two weeks in a row... There was no heartbeat either... and now... ::snort:: I've got a rambunctious little Five year old running around!! Thank goodness I didn't let them talk me into a D&C!! Whew! Funny how those things happen, eh?

You said you've had low progesterone, right? And you've had miscarriages from that? I have the same thing (I've been taking estrogen and progesterone since I was a teen because I don't produce registerable amounts naturally). Anyway, from the low progesterone, I've had miscarriages and babies who didn't develop on schedule, too, and that's 'while' I'm already on meds cuz I'm never off of them. With Courtney, I ended up being given twice the legal limit of progesterone (via i.v.) for a non-pregnant woman, throughout my whole pregnancy to keep her in there. I never did register hCG during that pregnancy, even in my blood tests. [whatwacko]

So, yeah.. I do understand what you've been through, and having low hormones does certainly mess with your cycles and pregnancy tests. Frustrating. :???:

smooch!

I knew a week after DTD.

With Jo, I was surprised.

With Abby, I was a AF was a week late.

So it's been different each time.
But this time around I KNEW!

With Hannah I got a BFP at 12 DPO, with Micah I got one at 11 DPO. I kind of felt it more with Micah, I think. I started obsessively testing around 10 DPO or so and got a positive on 11 DPO. With Hannah, I went ahead and took a test at 12 DPO and the first one came up positive. Back then DH and I weren't sure if a faint line really meant I was pregnant and so we bought a digital test. Sure enough, a baby came 9 months later. [rofl]

With A, I was due for AF, but I felt SO different I knew something was up - I was way beyond PMS hungry, I was freezing all the time (usually I do not get cold easily) and my feet were sweaty, which never, ever happens to me.

With S, I was not expecting to be pg again, so when I felt sick at first I thought I had caught a stomach virus from one of my students. Then I realized AF was really late and the little light bulb went on in my head. Duh!

With this newest little one, I knew that the cycle was different, but I wasn't 100% sure if it was just my luteal phase lengthening again or if I was really pg until 13 dpo, but of course I was hoping all the while, IRL and online in TTC.

Our first baby ended in miscarriage, but I *knew* even before testing because all of a sudden my bras didn't fit, lol.

With ds #1, we had a pretty good idea when I started getting "car sick" on the way to work about a week before af was due.

With ds #2, it was the teariness that made me think "hmm, maaaaaybe" - you know, crying while driving depending on what song was playing on the radio, crying over certain tv ads, etc. That was a week or so before af was due, too. Kinda glad there was a logical reason for the teariness, lol.

So, for me, it was about 7-9 days before I was due that I was pretty certain.

With ds#2, we had agreed to start trying again, but were pretty sure we'd "missed the boat" that month. Dh was so excited, and so surprised, that even after doing the first test, he got me to drink heaps of water so I could do another one, lol.

Maybe I am the only one here like this but I didn't "figure out" that I was pregnant until I was 7-8 weeks along. My first husband and I were trying and then after a few months just gave up and quit trying but also quit preventing. Anyway, I was super swamped and on a business trip to Virginia Beach and when I came home my husband at the time mentioned that it had been quite a while since my last AF. I didn't even remember when my last one was. One trip to the doctor and not two hours later the nurse called me with the positive result.

Never knew with any of them, same symptoms with pregnancy that I had with pms for me. I just knew "when" I could test and tested on the day my period was due if we were trying.

No dreams, or feelings or signs or anything. My story is quite boring actually. Even with my last 2 who were unplanned I just went hmmm I was suppose to get my period today and bought a test.

With Abby I was 5 days late before I realised what could be going on. POAS and immediately got a positive. I was pleasantly surprised.

With Micah, I kinda knew a few days after conception, but I didn't want to convince myself of it incase I was wrong. Then the day AF was due I woke up feeling like she was going to come that morning but when she didn't I tested and sure enough my "gut" feeling was right.

With Sprout (sorry I love calling him/her sprout...heehee) I knew I was pregnant as well but again didn't want to convince myself incase I was wrong, I didn't want to be disappointed. A few days before I tested I had a major emotional outburst over something someone on another forum said, like spontaneous sobbing and weeping which is so unlike me, even dh was super surprised by that and I think we both "knew" then that I was pg. It was funny when it happened cuz dh just looked at me and went "Whoa! Babe, you've gotta be pregnant." Haha. Still cracks me up to remember that moment.

Okay, for some reason I read this as "a few days before conception" I was like whoa, how'd you pull that one off! LOL

I gotta say... because it had been so easy to conceive Helen (first cycle after having the IUD removal) I was sure it would be that easy again... and just "knew" before we got pregnant with the twins, that I would be pregnant that cycle. After each child (except Li) we have had an IUD in place, so this time is different in that we just never had BC to contend with... so I'm really out of my element here. Helen was one when we tried for the twins, and the twins were about one and a half when we tried for Li... so the earliest we ever tried was at the 12 months stage. Anywho...

I have soooooooo enjoyed reading all your posts! I really can't thank you gals enough for sharing~ It's been interesting to me getting to know you all more in this way~ :)
