View Full Version : Diarrhea
Godzgirl 11-27-2006, 12:27 AM My ds (7 months) is having diarrhea. It's very liquidy (sorry if to much info  ) but i have no idea what is causing it. Does anybody have any idea what it could be? I'm calling the doctor first thing tommorrow because it doesn't seem like it's going away (been like this since yesterday) i just wanted to run it by you ladies as well and see what you got to say also to see if you have any suggestions other then the obvious like take him to the doctors.
stephwhiz 11-27-2006, 12:37 AM Oh goodness Vanessa I hate to hear that your little one is not feeling well! It could be several things that is causing it. Has he had any sinus drainage? Have you introduced a new food to him lately? It could just be a virus too. Let us know what the Dr. says. Stephanie [hug] [hug] [hug]
Cheeseburger 11-27-2006, 12:39 AM Have you introduced any new foods to him lately that might have bugged him? Or fed him too much of one thing?
Is he eating solids or exclusively formula or breastfed?
He may just have a bit of a stomach bug, but it could be food irritating his bowels too... if you're feeding him new things or switched formulas or something.

luvmy4sons 11-27-2006, 07:22 AM Glad you are calling a doctor! Little ones are more greatly and quickly affected by diarrhea. Please keep us posted. Pedialyte!
It could be his teeth. Abby had bad diarrhea for 5 days when she was teething. But yes, see what the doc says and let us know!
~Tara~ 11-27-2006, 12:04 PM Yeah...
Food...anything new? Too much of anything?
And teeth!! Mine have messies when they're teething.
Just keep nursing, if you do so. And giving water. Avoid juices. Plain water is best.
(I avoid pedialyte because of the artificial sweetener and colors, though they do have a colorless flavorless version...most kids would rather drink water though..it's ick!) Some herbal tea would be ok occasionally as well.
irishmum2boys 11-27-2006, 06:13 PM I was thinking teething too? Let us know how he is doing!
Crissyanna 11-28-2006, 03:22 PM If you are nursing, have you eaten anything new or spicy? When I do, Dainyah has a nasty dipe if it doesn't agree with her.
Teething could very well be a culprit. I have seen that many times at the day care (yet, the current book they were using for CDA class said that teething does not cause the big D. I beg to differ, I have seen it too many times to know better)
~Tara~ 11-28-2006, 04:40 PM Yeah, they say fevers aren't related to teething either
 whatever
mine often have the connection
love2bmom 11-28-2006, 04:50 PM How long has he had the runs? It sounds to me like it could be the stomach virus that is going around. Check with the ped. They will probably suggest the BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast). Fluids as much as possible also...
Hope he is feeling better soon... Hugs!!
Godzgirl 11-28-2006, 11:07 PM Thank you ladies for all your advice and prayers. I took ds to the doctors and the he was put on an a liquid diet for 24 hrs and now he is on the brat diet for the next 24hrs. After that i can start giving him formula again and see how he does. So far he hasn't pooped so i can't tell if it's better or not. Keep us in your prayers please!
Praying for you both. [hug]
