this is an amazing video to watch. It does show the vagina and breasts. (so there's your warning) But it is very interesting

Thanks for sharing... I loved watching them. I am a birth junkie though. The only thing is I wonder why the women weren't in different positions- IE: hands and knees, squatting etc.

I wish more North American mainstream care providers would learn skills and offer more options other than automatic c-section.

I'm not even pregnant and I found myself praying out loud,"Lord please don't let any of my other babies be breeched again!!" Emma was breeched when I had labor a week early... and they turned her (External Version)... it wasn't "painful" but definitely not something I want to have done "for kicks". Ugh. But definitely better than a C-section! That's amazing that all those women delivered that well being breeched! I'm amazed and in Awe of how AWESOME God is, that HE made our bodies to be able to do that!!!

I agree! I just had a friend who had a homebirth and her baby was a surprise breech. She birthed her no problem, but she kept saying that she was so thankful that she declined the VE bcuz had they realised baby was breech they would have made her transfer to hospital and possibly even a c-section. It's amazing that alot of health professionals nowadays don't know how to handle/cope with a vaginal breech delivery. Too much medical-ness taking over.

I shared this with a mw friend and she says breech births are often very managed (ie: manipulations etc) and the golden rule is "hands off the breech"... touching and pulling stimuate breathing and this is the reason why breech is considered "dangerous"- because of poor outcomes with handling. Thus why most NA mainstream care-providers won't "allow" mothers to attempt vag breech. :(

I agree about the "hands off" thing, Danou... I think most births are that way "Better when the doctors take their hands out of it". My last delivery was by FAR the easiest and I truly believe it was because I had a midwife who basically just sat back and watched (once she helped me get past my anterior lip). I loved it! I look forward to (Lord Willing) having another birth like that!!

I work in labor and delivery, and one of our nurses was telling us about this breech delivery they just had. All the other nurses were shocked that we had a breech delivery. They didn't think any of our docs did breech deliveries anymore. It's sad to see them so anxious to jump to csections so often, but it all pretty much comes down to insurance. They don't want to be sued over a breech delivery when they could have just done a csection. Believe it or not, most women I know of either think a csection is easier, or isn't a big deal.
I do think a breech delivery should be a choice that the parents make after given good information on it, and probably not by first time moms. If you don't know how your pelvis would do during birth, it's best to not risk it....babies DO get stuck sometimes and if they are breech and come out to the head and then get stuck, that can be bad. I have delivered a big baby without issues, so I would opt for a vaginal breech delivery, but it's not for everyone, that for sure!

Thanks for the video, I loved it! I own a video of a women having an unassisted homebirth of twins, one being a footling breech because no hospital around would let her deliver vaginally. It's awesome to watch. I agree that the Lord made our bodies so awesome!!!

blessings,
Amber

My friend had to have a c-section because her baby was breech, bum down first, and she asked if she could try vaginal. They wouldn't let her. This was her second pregnancy.
She hated the c-section and said that she would do all natural, and vaginal any day instead of a c-section.

I wasnt able to watch the vid, bummer, my computerfancysomething doesnt support....something, or something, but... When I had my girls baby A (ever after known as Sophie) was breech bum down so being my first I wasnt 'allowed' to do a natural, vag birth. I actually was happy with an elected c-sec, I was just SO tired of carrying big twins, they were both over 6lbs. I recovered pretty quickly tho. I went on to have a vbac with my ds and to think he could have been breech, normal was very much bad enough, I couldnt have handled doing a breech. Funny thing is tho, the csec was in the states, over here, I think they would attemtp a breech before they opt for a csec. Not sure so much now but when I had my ds 8 years ago, I think they would have. People werent so sue crazy over here back then, now, I dont know.
