Ladies,

Just recently, Rebekah has started taking naps. She's now 7 months old and much more active, sitting, playing, and figuring out how to crawl. Usually, she'll sleep for 1-2 hours at a time. How often should she be napping? 2 times a day? 3 times a day? How should they be spaced out? She's usually awake between 7:00-8:00 in the morning. Usually, she'll go down around 10:30-11:00 for nap 1. She doesn't have a regular time for an afternoon nap. She doesn't have a regular time for an early evening nap either. Right now, she's taking a short nap since she didn't nap much this afternoon and wore herself out this evening. I just don't like how close to bedtime it is. Tell me please, what has worked for you? TIA!

Hi Megan! :D Here is what has worked for us!

Callum only naps twice now. He is up for the day between 7-8. Goes for a nap around 9-9:30. In the morning he typically sleeps 60-90 minutes. He goes for an afternoon nap around 12:30-1:00 and typically sleeps for 2-3 hours. The amount of sleep he gets in either nap is occasionally longer or shorter, but the times I've given are the "norm" for him. Bedtime for him is between 6:30-7:00. HTH!

Our Goobs did (youngest still does) 2 naps that looked like this:

Up 3 hrs
Morning nap for 2 hrs
up 3 hrs
Afternoon nap 2 hrs
Up 3 1/2 - 4 hrs
Bed

They had set times but I figured if ya wanted to use this method you could insert your own times. This is what worked for us. When they were little (like yours) I'd take cues from them though. Sometimes the 3 hrs was too long between naps so I'd slice of 15- 30 min and put them down early. Not sure if this helps you or not. Blessings on working out a schedule!

My kiddos napped all the time. We really never had a set schedule but they have always been good about going to bed when it's time so I never worried about it. My youngest now at 32 months can miss her daytime nap and go down at 4pm and sleep until 7 the next morning. I wouldn't worry about it unless she is having a really hard time going to bed at night. Children will sleep when they need it and some sleep more than others. HTH

Shaelyn is 13 months old and is now really only needing one nap each day which I prefer to be in the afternoon since ds is still napping. But, by around 11 or so she is tired and cranky...we're in the inbetween phase between 1 and 2 naps. ugh.
