Last night I went to the hospital for high blood pressure and was kept overnight. My dr. released me on bed rest, blood pressure meds, and twice a week non-stress tests:???: I have never been on bed rest and so far being about 4 hours into it, it is NO FUN! How am I suppose to sit back and let everything go. I have talked to different people in my church who are willing to help me with Josh during the day. I feel like I have too much to do to just sit back and hope others will do my chores. anyone have techniques on how to deal with bed rest?

Aww, Becky, I'm sorry. I know it's hard, but it'll go pretty quickly I'm sure. You don't have far to go, my friend. [hug]

I was on bed rest for all of my pregnancies, as well. All for at least six months, so I know how you feel, really! [whatwacko]

Here's what I did when I was on bed rest at home (sometimes I was in the hospital, and when Justin worked two jobs and couldn't help with Scotty, I stayed with my parents). I had to allow people to help. Hubby was willing to run the house on his own and considered it a challenge. He did a great job, btw. Hubby called the church and they immediately started bringing food out to the house. That helped tons. Family brought food, too, and they would bring special treats for Justin because they felt sorry for him.

As for being stuck in bed.. You may be surprised how easy it is to run your life from bed. You just need an understanding and helpful spouse and kid/s. :-D I spent a lot of time in quiet prayer, talking with the Lord to keep me sane. Also, good to have a TV in your room and family who'll make sure you have good movies to watch. Good books are good to have. I like Sudoku and crossword puzzles, too. I crocheted and made things for the baby. PHONE! [claploud] Talking to friends! Yeah! [OK] And close friends and family knew they could stop by anytime to visit with me... bring me pity presents.. [rotfl] If you have a laptop, you're really good to go! My last baby was born before most people had computers in their homes, laptops weighed about 600 pounds, and it took about ten minutes to get online and almost that long to turn pages! LOL! [rotfl]

Stay positive. Dream about Sarah. Praise the Lord. Play games with Josh. Treat your body like it was gold. Comfy and cute jammies help mood. Windows and drapes open as much as possible. Good food and plenty of fluids. Allow loved ones and friends to bless you and care for you. It's their moment to shine and be your heros. [heartbeat]

Blessings, dear one!

Thanks ladies. This is definitely I think the most boring time of my life. My church has stepped up and I have childcare either here or at their house for the WHOLE week. I am so blessed! So now all I have to do is keep myself sane. I keep wanting to go outside for a walk and I have to remind myself that I can't. I am looking forward to Tuesday since I have my non-stress test and my 36/37 week appointment with my OB. It will be a nice time to be out of the house! I also will be able to clarify what my "bed rest" entails and HOW strict it is. He was kind of vague with it all saying "you need to MOSTLY stay at home in bed or couch" and that I needed to get childcare. So I am assuming that I can still do some things but nothing strenuous??? Since I am 36 weeks 4 days it isn't like I am in horrible danger if we do need to get this babe out, but he said he did want to keep me preggo for at least 10 more days. anyways I am trying to figure out how to keep myself busy and not horribly bored. So ladies I am counting on all of you to keep this site active to I can stay entertained!!!

Hi Becky
Will be praying for you! I can understand how frustrating it must be especially when you have a little one home. I am so glad your Church is helping. Maybe you could make a list of the urgent things on your mind, then someone could help you. For example getting your bag packed or the baby crib up or whatever :)
Glad they are taking good care of you though! Are you with the same OB you had before?

Praying for you, it's not easy. My first two pregancies were rough at the end and #3 and #4 were classified as high risk. I'm glad that your church will be helping out some.

Different doctors give their own guidelines and limits so you're wise to get some more specifics for your case. In the meantime enjoy prayer, scripture, talking with others through phone, visits, or online. Perhaps doing some reading or other hobby would help too. I read lots and knit.

((hugs))

thanks ladies. Jane I am with a different OB this time since the one who delivered Josh moved out east.

We had to go to the hospital again last night for high blood pressure. By the time we got there is was lower 132/92. So my OB increased the blood pressure meds he has put me on and sent us home. So far my blood pressures today are ok, still on the high side but nothing scary. Today one of our pastor's daughters is here spending the night to help with tonight and tomorrow morning. I am so blessed she is here, she really loves my son and has a really neat relationship with him. Anyways, thats todays update.
