Do any of you have hayfever attacks during pregnancy? On my maternity care sheet they warned of this and lo and behold - hayfever attack-o-rama!!! Stingy eyes and snuffly nose.

BTW I think I am having a girl,

Yup. I was totally congested during all my pregnancies. Not fun. :(

No but boy with my first did my asthma get worse!!! With our second I went to a pulmonologist who tracked my allergies and asthma and put me on meds for them. It was SO much better. SO I guess my advice might be to make an appointment with one and see what she/he says will help you. Hope you feel better soon! ~Kerri

Yeah I get hayfever too. Usually just a red itchy and runny nose. Really irritating. Sometimes I get a headache.
Also my nose is more sensitive and it can hurt sometimes to touch.
And my gums are more sensitive too.

I had a really bad cold during this last one. I think my allergies did attack last Summer or so, but of course there's like nothing you can take since your prego! :( I really had to take care of myself with that cold...it was a bad one!

I had a cold in each Trimester with Abby... I didn't want to take anything. Even if it was just Paracetamol. I did however have cough mixture. It's called Bonningtons Irish Moss Syrup. It is pleasant tasting (kinda like licorice if I remember correctly) and it doesn't have anything in it that would hurt baby.

On my care sheet there is a list of medications which are "safe" to take, if I did get a cold during this pregnancy I would actually take the hayfever medication as it does the same trick (dries noses up). Although I don't take anything for the hayfever itself - I can live with the irritation LOL.

Mine when I do get it, is caused by pollens....

I don't really worry about paracetamol as I get bad hormone headaches during pregnancy and I wouldn't be able to function without it!!! - I do try and take other measures to get rid of the headache (cold compress, laying down etc) but then when that doesn;t work, I do take it.

My obstetrician said it was safe... I figure people do far worse things during pregnancy and their babies are still normal.

My hayfever has been going hay wire. It was so bad with sinus drainage that I threw up this morning from it. Nothing buy slime. It was icky. I was told I could take sudafed, but that hasn't worked for me in years, so I don't see much of the point.

I am also allergic to a ton of other things, so yipee. I can not wait to have this baby in the middle of my fall allergy season. Then, since I plan on b/f, still no allergy meds for me. Oh well, I keep telling myself this will all be worth it.
