My twins have been toilet trained - well the girl for almost 2 years and my son for about 6 months (he is a late bloomer) and for the past 2 months I have removed their night nappy, but every few nights we have an accident which involves me stripping beds in the dead of night and remaking, changing wet clothing - yes I know it's motherhood BUT

Just as a general consensus when did you all take the night nappy away?

Being pregnant and needing the extra sleep I've just begun putting them back in nappies at night... which actually gives all of us peace of mind and I haven't woken up to crying kids who are upset over wetting their bed.

They are almost 3 1/2 am I making more of a problem by reverting back to nappies? They don't wear them for their afternoon sleep, just at night.

We didn't take our kids out of night diapers until we were convinced they were going to stay dry. Actually we used Pull-ups and we would just reuse the dry pull-up the next night for two or three nights (to save on expense). One of our four took quite a while to catch on to bladder control at night. We put no pressure on her and just reminded her before she went to bed to get up when she needed to potty. Also, we had a potty schedule for night time. Potty before bed... again before I went to bed a few hours later... before my dh left for work early in the a.m... and then when it was time to wake up. We barely disturbed her during the night trips to the bathroom. No talking. Just a quick trip... sit on the toilet for a minute... then back to bed. She barely woke up for this. Good luck. Try not to stress. They always catch on eventually. It's one of God's miracles.

We used Pull-ups until we were sure there wouldn't be any accidents too. We go potty right before bed and if we toss and turn for a while before falling asleep, then we go again. I also don't let them drink much after 7:00 at night. That way they are less likely to have accident. Stephanie

My dd started having dry night diapers way before she was potty trained, so night wasn't the problem (getting her to use the toliet in the day was!).

I suggest what the other ladies have: just keep them in pullups at night until they stay completely dry for a while.

Also, do you have a nightlight in the hall if there's a long walk to the potty? They may get kinda afraid having to walk down the hall in the dark. Maybe if you put a nightlight in the hall or in the bathroom at night they'll be more likely to go.

By the way, I'll share something with you a woman shared with me about my dd and it gave me much peace: No kid ever went to Kindergarden in diapers! Meaning all kids potty train by Kindergarden!

I would just leave them in diapers at night too. When they start consistently waking up dry, then you can take them off. It'll give you peace of mind, and them!

I think a lot of the time, kids just sleep too deeply to wake up to go the bathroom. Some kids still need something at night even older than six.

My ds (turned 4 on Monday) still wears a pull up at night. Once we start having dry nights then I will try to stop the pull up. My older son was almost 5 yrs old before he stayed dry all night. We'd drag him out of bed when we were going to bed (that didn't work) so then if I woke up during the night I might get him up and take him. We finally got into a routine where dh would get ds up at 5:30 a.m. (when dh got up for work) and he would go then and be fine. He finally started getting up and going by himself. At 3 1/2 yrs. old, I would still use a pull up/diaper for night time.

My DD was 4 in January and we're still using pull-ups at night. She'll be dry for a couple of nights and then wake up wet for a few days. I don't have the time and energy to be changing sheets that much (and I only have one and am not pregnant to boot).

As someone else said, if she wakes up with a dry pull-up I'll reuse it again the next night.

Kids have so many stresses with all they're learning, I figure she doesn't need to worry about wet sheets too. And neither do you.

Relax and give yourself a break. It'll happen...eventually!!
