my 2 yr old had a very watery icky yellow diareah with little flecks in it.
What do I do? Should I take him up to the doctor? Should I cut back his milk? give him more juice and water? cut back on solids? Is there something I should give him? When should I take him in if it lasts? What should I feed him?
Not sure why.... he has no fever, has been very craby, his last molars are still trying to come out.. have been for months. He is really droolling bad. No rash. Has a slight cough, we all had a viral infection which the doctors can not help so we have been just waiting it out. His appitite has not been the greatest.
Thank you. chris

Just keep giving him plenty of water, let him eat as he feels like it. Meaning..don't force him to eat if he's not up to it, just offer healthy choices.
It's probably related to his teething.

thank you tara:
I wasn't sure what to do, he did breakfast, lunch he only had some OJ, refused, crackers, and grilled cheese then he just wanted to go to bed, his temp was only 35c, he did make a funny noise and kinda threw up but it was more clear phlem.
How long should I let this go? He is drinking water. Man I sure hope that it is just his teeth and it will also mean that they are coming threw.......finely....
thank you,
chris

If it persists for 48 hours or more, I would go to doctor - most viral infections leave your system by then. If he stops urinating, or goes for extended periods of time without drinking and isn't producing urine - go to doctor.
If he is drinking, that is most important. Keeping him hydrated above all else. Don't force too much into him. Start with the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce and toast -plain yogurt is good also. Saltine crackers, tortilla chips. Just bland simple foods. If he won't drink water and prefers juice - go with less acidic choices - apple, pear, white grape. OJ & pineapple juice may only irritate his tummy.
If the poo starts looking more like mucus, call the doctor. Keep an eye on his temp and keep us posted!
(((HUGS))) I've been there too many times to count and it's never any fun.

Hi Ladies:
Well here is an update.... Joel is feeling a little better. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU so much for all the info...love the BRAT idea...never heard of it before.
Joel only had the one bad poop, then none the next day today was more normal, yet still quite soft. He is still not eating the best. He keeps putting his hands to his throat, and putting his hand down his throat. His cheeks are extremly red...I sure hope it is the teeth and this will bring them OUT...eeee No fevers, no more throwing up.
Now as for me..... I am trying to get into the doctor. I have been sick since easter, also had sinuitus, now the last week, very dizzy, I ended up passing out last night. Hit my cheek bone on the trunk. Thank God we have a blanket on it so I did not break the skin, but i do have a bruise. My DH is making me and helping me to get to the doctor to get it looked at. Not sure if it is still the sinus problem, BP, or what...but not doing well.
thanks for praying.
Chris
