ok, mommies with babies around the two month mark, or even later, if you remember the two month check up.

patrick went yesterday for his two month checkup, and bare-bottom weighted 9 lbs. 12 oz. Last week, fully clothed, he weighed 10-2, but those 7 oz. were probably his clothes and stuff.

anywho, he's in the 10th percentile, so out of curriosity, I'm just wondering what your babies weighed at 2 months.

just wonderin..... as I always do, LOL

*sigh*...really making me think here....=P

ah yes! Bare-bottom...she weighed in at 12 lbs 8 oz....she was in the 99th percentile.

At birth she weighed 8lbs 14.5 oz. @ 2 weeks 10 lbs 3 oz.
at 2 months (what was said above) and @ 4 months she weighed in at 15lbs exactly.

*phew*

Abby weighed 11 lb 4 oz at the 2 month mark and she was in the 50th centile. she was 7 lb 11 oz at birth.

so 11-4 is roughtly "average" then. WOW! that's pretty far from my little 9-12'er. He was 7-12 when he was born, so was average birth, but with the PS and surgery, his weight loss and all he's set back.

He looks like a little bitty baby, I guess he is, LOL.

He's just starting to wear his little 0-3 months clothes, and some of them swallow him whole!

But it's interesting having a low percetile kid. Gabe is and has always been in the 95th or above, currently 97th!

Bri is right at 95!

Hi!
My little guy is a bit older now, 7 months, but at 2 months he was 10lb 1 oz.

Katherine was 12 lbs, 6 oz at 2 months. She's been sitting in the 95-99 as far as percentile goes... she already wears 12 month old clothes, as she's outgrown everything else(she's 6 months).

Personally I would be thankful if she weighed less- less weight to haul around really. My arms get tired carrying her around... I am pretty sure she is already 20 pounds... although we find out next week at her weigh in... she was 16 and a half pounds at her last weigh in (4 months)

We had to get a new carseat at 5 months because she was too tall for an infant one...(She is about 30 inches long right now) we can't just carry her around in her carseat like we did her infant one (it had a base you put the seat in)..and she can't sit up on her own yet.. so if we go somewhere where she can't lay on the floor (store, restaurant), we have to bring her old carseat along for her to sit in while we shop or eat unless we can hold her the entire time... it's annoying. I mean i'm really glad she's gaining weight and is healthy but right now it's kindof a bother because she's so big for her age. It was a lot easier when she fit in an infant seat so you didn't even have to take her out of it, just slip it in and out of the base in the car LOL

sorry to gripe. LOL at least my arms and back are getting a workout... they are sore a lot these days, especially after fussy days LOL

At 2 months ds weighed 13lbs, but he was also just shy of 9lbs at birth. He was in the 90-95th percentile for height and weight until he turned 10 months old, since then he is usually in the 40-50th percentile for both.

I don't remember what DD was at 2 months, but she was born at 9lbs 11oz....just your baby's size! When you said that he just fits into his 0-3 months clothes, I remembered that I was a bit shocked that some of the clothes that size seemed so big on DD....being she was so big, but I guess we never really had a chance to put her into newborn clothes so I didn't see her grow into the next size..KWIM?
I am with "Cheeseburger" in that we had to get DD a new carseat at 4 months because she was too tall for the infant one, and it is hard to carry them around....but we managed and loved the extra cuddle time! :-D

If your DS had PS....he sure seems to be doing well growing like he is....my friend's DS had that, and was so small compared to DD for the longest time, but he's now about 7lbs heavier than DD, and they are only one day apart!!

yeah, he's doing really well, considering what went on, I'm just used to my 90%tile and higher babes, so it's weird having a 2 month old that actually wears 0-3 months. LOL

I don't take my daughter for well baby visits, but right now my guesstimate is that she's about 14 pounds. She just turned 3 months a week ago.

wow! if you don't mind me asking, why don't you do the check ups? I won't attack you for any reason, I just like to hear other's reasons for doing things, kwim? (I'm just more curious that curious george, that's all, LOL)

In a nutshell, because of vaccinations. We know that we will hear flack about our choice not to vaccinate each and every time we go in, so we choose to just keep an eye on her weight and health ourselves. And in general, we don't go to doctors much. I mean, we didn't even have her in a hospital. :)

oh. have you looked into a ped that won't be adiment about the vax? We have a few around here. I'm not pushing a ped on you or anything, but I know the turmoil that people can go through if say, she fell and broke her arm or something when she was older and you HAD to take her to the ER or something. My couisn works in the ER and she said that one of the docs called CPS b/c the parents didn't go to the doc. the situation was similar to yours.
In esence, you know you're making the best decision, and I know that, but to doctors and hospital social workers, it looks like negligence, even when it's not.

Those people think your kid has to be seen for the sligtest little thing. I can't stand that. I mean, with Patrick, for a while it was touch and go b/c of his surgery, but that's different. the other two are healthy and they want to see them for the slightest thing, even when I can treat it myself. It's ridiculous.

Oh, we'd definitely take her in if she was sick or hurt or something like that. But they'd give us grief for no well baby visits? Yikes.

Actually I think that my midwife said something like that. She said to keep records of everything we do at home (weigh, measure, etc.) so that if anyone ever hassles us we have it on paper.

yeah, that's a good idea. most docs think that b/c they went to school for x years, they KNOW sooooo much. Our ped leaves our kids in our hands. we're the ones that are with them 24/7 we know what they really need.

Kana, mind sending your ped here?

We go in next week on the 6th for our two month visit (I know she is about two or three inches longer than at her two week, and she has about grown out of her CPFs. The small ones), and as much as I don't want them, the vacs. Peter and I have discussed it and I told him point blank that if she gets any kind of a reaction, we are done with them. I don't want to do them, or at least not all of the ones they say we need, but I can't prove a religous exemption which is what we need in this state (we don't belong to a church that generally adheres to no vax) and my husband sees the need for some of them. And since it is an all or nothing thing.....yeah. ARGH. I keep telling myself that if my kids ever want to be missionaries or travel out of the country, they will need them then. We are still toying with the idea of immigrating to Nova Scotia one of these years and it would probably be easier if the kids had their vax.

Gotta love the personal care/health choices pushed on us. Being sarcastic there, hope you noticed. Ok, time to remove myself from my soapbox and see if that mouse is still alive in front of my dryer. Where all my clean diapers are....I am scrounging around until Peter gets home for lunch around four. I broke out the flannel flat folds that I really don't like too well. They are so thin, they are wide (so I have to fold them like a cpf) and I can't use the snappy on them!!!!! I put a ton of hemp liners in my kushies pocket dipe and am praying she doesn't go for a while right now. I do have some disposeables, but I want to save them for a true emergency (or for going to the ped. I haven't taken her in a cloth yet, and I am not sure how they are going to appreciate that one....) Though, a dying mouse (d-con death) in front of my dryer is starting to count as an disposeable emergency to me. Why didn't I get them out last night when they were done? Let this be a lesson, don't procrastinate!!!!

What is required for approval?

I have just spent hours printing out proof about the aborted fetal tissue used in vax so the health nurse will believe me. She is VERY cooperative and we are glad vax are optional, but she wanted the info because she thought it sounded kinda out-there and crazy people talk, and i wanted to *show* her why we are choosing not to have certain vax because of religious reasons. i have like a stack of papers 2 inches thick from the drug manufacturers and the labs where the cell lines are propogated. If you are anti-abortion, and your church is, would that at least allow you to be exempted from those? I could help you as far as getting the info from reliable sources if you like, as i just spend about 8 hours doing it myself LOL

Here is a non-profit organization that supposedly will help you fight for religious exemption, perhaps you could call them: http://www.lc.org/aboutus.html

by the way don't immigrate to nova scotia. Try alberta instead - there are jobs here everywhere, plus you could visit me ;)

You should look up the actual law regarding exemption - sometimes there is fine print they don't like to advertise. If you'd like help PM me, i LOVE doing research on ANYTHING... it's one of my favorite things to do ;)

oh by the way - on the canadian immigration paperwork (which i am going through myself right now, as i'm from the USA too) - they ask nothing about vax. it's not required. You get an immigration physical, all they do is make sure you don't have HIV or AIDS or hepatitis, and they take a lung xray, and a doctor looks you over to make sure you don't have any obvious things like tumors or leprosy or some such. It's really simple - it shouldn't affect immigrating at all... they didn't check my vax records when I went for my physical.

Sorry this is so offtopic. sorry to hijack the thread - i'll stop now!!

I'm not sure the requirements here to not vax, I do know, though, that if you chose not to, your children can't enter the public school system, and well, since we waited until the last minute to decide for Gabe, we vaxed him, and since we're waiting until closer to that age to decide on the other two, we vax them, but only the ones the HAVE TO HAVE for school

I have to say, the stupidest vax so far is the rotavirus. it's a frickin stomach bug for pete's sake (not yours, Crissyana, just pete, I never knew who that particular pete was, LOL)

We are very lucky to have the ped team we do. They're great. all three of them are christians, and two of them are hubby and wife, and the third one is the hubby/wife team's really good friend.

Thanks guys. I have to do what my husband has decided, though he is with me for the most part. He doesn't like bucking the system. Can't say I do either, but I have gotten way more outspoken recently. Don't know how or why, but I've learned I have an opinion and I can voice it!!!!

I have read about the aborted babies in vax and all that. ICK. And reading on the CDC's website about the mouse serum and bovine serum. What in the world is that? Wait, I don't think I truly want to know. And don't even mention the formaldehyed, aluminum and thimerisol. Things they tell us not to ingest to begin with. I guess I'll ask Dr. H about it next week. See what he says. I like him a lot, and he seems pretty reasonable. I think he is the most reasonable doc in the office. There are two there that I would not take our dogs to, let alone a baby.

Kana, they can't deny your child public school with a religous exemption, can they? Just curious. I thought every state had one of those.

Cheeseburger, there is a church in NS that we would be going to. Peter's old music minister who was his mentor is up there now. He went just as the music minister, but the regular minister left, so he is now doing the preaching, music, youth, children, all of it. We think we might be feeling a tug to go and help up there with him. Not sure yet. I think we may end up elsewhere first though. And we are not sure if it would be permenant moving, or going as missionaries thing and keeping our US citizenship.

Ok, back to the height and weight topic this was originally. Sorry to have hijacked.

Oh, and I had to cut for Pete's sake out of my vocab. It seemed weird to say that when I am married to one. Though, he doesn't go by Pete. It is Peter. Still, it is weird.

Ok, truly, I'm done with hijacking......
