View Full Version : What age?

Just wanting a general idea of at what age did your DS begin to only want to do "boy things"

Lately DS wants increasingly less to do with DD's kinds of games (such as My Little Pony etc) and only wants to play by himself with his construction, train etc sets.

He is 4 in around 3 weeks time and I was always under the impression that boys didn't do this until around 6-7 (obviously I was wrong)

DD is increasingly frustrated and DH and I end up playing certain games with her that DS now refuses to play.

The only thing they really do together now is art and craft.
If DD goes into DS room to try and join in on whatever he is doing he shouts out that she is ruining his game.

I've told him he needs to share and play with DD.

i think Gabe was more so aroung that age, too. Now, Bri, he's 14 months next week and he will NOT play with anything girlie at all. We have to take him toys when he goes to my aunt's house. She said he walked around all day the time we didn't take him anything to play with saying "toy, toy, toy" looking for something. LOL

I really don't remember, AM. It was probably a non issue for us because we have mostly boys.

Perhaps you could give your son some time each day where he doesn't have to share and play with his sister; just some time to do his "boy" thing? Maybe you do already?

uh, 3 boys to start here
they've always been *boys* LOL
Gotta ditto Madre here...allow him time to just be a boy, without interference from 'the girl' hehe They need that.
Yes, he has to learn to treat his sister nicely and play with her, but he also deserves some "boy time" too. Get that boy some tools to build something...or something LOL

Yeah he is allowed the boy time - which leaves DH and I to play ring-around-the rosie and My Little Pony with DD ROTF. DD is incredibly sociable.

We don't expect him to really play with girl toys as such (that's not what I was driving at LOL) but they did up until a few weeks ago, play co-operative games with all their toys.

We will be buying him more construction type toys for Christmas to encourage his love of building and designing.

Last night they actually pulled out his Tonka Trucks and were racing them around the house - the noise on the wood floors was deafening - but I was glad to see he was spending some time with her.
We do allow him boy time - I was just suprised he began this a few weeks shy of 4.

Classic. Gotta love the boy in him (and I do)

Thanks
