Well, my Group B strep test came back positive. I was really hoping to avoid that this time, but I guess not. Thanks for all you ladies who prayed about it.

Thanks for all you ladies who prayed about it. JRBL 04-27-2009, 05:31 PM Oh, gal, I'm so sorry!!! :( I hope you have a pleasant birth in spite of it! Praying for you gal! danou 04-27-2009, 08:05 PM I'm not sure what your birth goals are... but pm me if you're interested in learning about some options. Did your doc fully explain what group b is and the likelihood of it affecting baby? JRBL 04-27-2009, 08:43 PM Danou, you're right... My case: my labor went so quickly that I barely got the meds in and Eliya was born... they checked her and even had me go to the ped after she was born... and the pediatrician was the one who told me how low the risk actually was... I was pretty shocked that they would pump me full of medicine that she may not even need. Ggrr... jen1981 04-28-2009, 12:01 AM Yeah, I am aware of what it is and the natural alternatives. However, I have to have my water broken before labor progresses very far so it is a lot longer exposure. Oh well. jen1981 04-28-2009, 12:02 AM Oh yeah, I forgot to add, I am going to a midwife group this time and the info and stuff they told me is the same as the family doc. that delivered my other kiddos. That was nice, since it was 2 different people. buttercup_97140 04-28-2009, 11:54 AM I hope all goes well. I would def. take some probiotics to counter act the bad effects of the antibiotics, but after LOTS of prayer and research, I would also get the antibiotics if I ever turned up positive. Even though it's such a small risk, when babies do get it they are SOOOO super sick and can die within hours of getting the infection. I actually work with a woman who's son died within about 12 hours after birth from Group B. I am one who doesn't take antibiotics or gets any of the baby meds after delivery, but the risk was too high for me. I totally think it has to be prayed about and researched and it's a personal decision. My doc has tried to give me antibiotics a few times in the last 10 years we have been going to her, and I think I took it once! Haahaa! I hate them, BUT I know sometimes they are necessary. KWIM? I hope you have an AWESOME birth!!!! It's so exciting to be so close. May the Lord bless you and know that he will provide all your needs! Blessings, Amber savedbygrace 04-28-2009, 07:55 PM I'll keep you in my prayers friend. Godzgirl 04-29-2009, 01:46 AM I'll keep you in my prayers Jenny! |
