View Full Version : Potty Training Woes...

Okay... Ezi is the culprit (my 2 1/2 year old)!

The boy is a giant amongst 2 year olds and he's got... what we term as "grown man poopy". I mean really... I am soooo desiring for this little guy to get on the pot and do his business in there and there alone. And he is attracted to the potty, so to speak. So... he asks to get on there and he sits down and makes pee-pee and gassy sounds with his mouth and says "done!". I let him sit awhile longer... no more than 5 minutes and then I get him up and inform him that we'll try again soon. I put him back in about 30 minutes and keep this rotation going for as long as I can. But he will literally hold the poopy in all day long until he catches me off guard and WHAMO! Poop in the diaper [whatsmack] And I nearly cry in agony while changing it. I am desperate for some relief here. He will occassionally pee-pee in the potty. What I'm really wondering is... do you guys have any suggestions? I had virtually no real issues training my first two, dd first and ds #1 second. But dear Ezi is really being stubborn here and he thinks it's hilarious of course. He poops his diaper and says "tah-dahhhh!" Then while I change it he's going "ewww mommy... poopy go in potty... that stink!" [whatwacko] Please help!

Do you feel like he can hold it in and go when you aren't around? if so...limit him to the kitchen, or other area with easy clean floors, and put his potty in there and let him run around with only a shirt on...

With my ds we struggled for a long time. Part of what finally motivated him was rewards....not sure if that is something you want to try or not. Little candies (we used skittles) or stickers.

Kate... I think that he can hold it and so I put him in only a shirt and a pair of undies... and he tinkled on himself, then he freaked out and was screaming of course  I think maybe I should go back to that though... maybe it will eventually take [whatthink]

Kim... I have been trying to tell him he'll get a lolipop. That's his favorite... but he just doesn't care enough.

Thanks ladies :)
