What do you think of the middle name Prayer? Do you think that would be weird for your child??

Hhhmmm... it's *different* I will say that. What would you use as a first name?? That may make all the difference.

That's what I was going to say....let me hear a few first name options and I'll let ya know what I think then.

I'll have to try to run a few names around myself, until I hear your ideas.

Well I am sort of stuck on Calico Prayer for a girl and Ezekiel Prayer for a boy. We have always used family names for middle, but I have been feeling that we prayed so much about this and our last babies that maybe that would be a good middle name, just not sure if that would be weird for them. Dh and I have not had much time to discuss. :-D Still tons of time.

Tefilah is the Hebrew word for prayer. Deesis in greek. (would double check those though) Throwing those out in case you want to broaden your choices with essentially the same word/meaning.

JMO.. I think it's a little strange. but I do understand you desire for that name... If it were me, which it isn't, I would try to find a name that has the meaning.

Anina is a girls name that means "answer my prayer"
Ora-(or-ah) is a girls name it is "prayer" in latin
Hosanna-girls name- A prayer of acclamation or praise of salvation

Orazio-boys name- italian-prayer, some will also say Horace


Anyhow...I do like Calico Hosanna
for a boy.. Elijah Orazio sounds cool if you're italian LOL

Just some suggestion along with my opinion. But remember if you LOVE the name PRAYER then go with it.

I think Prayer can be a super neat middle name if the first name has spiritual significance also. :mrgreen:

My husband knows a guy who named his little boy "Classic"... I just loved it.
But I love names that are very different and there's certainly nothing wrong with Prayer and it's very original.

*I* wouldn't use it, but then again, if we have another, ever, we'll use either Storm or Rain, but we're wanna-be storm chasers (seriously, that's our retirement plans!!)

On the other hand, I know a couple who named their kids
Random, Patience, and Chance. There is another kid, but I can't think of it's name. :-)

I personally would not use it as it is, but I like Rachel's idea where you look at it in a different language.

But I agree with Esther if you love it go with it.

Hmmmm, honestly it sounds odd to me. I understand wanting to have a unique name for your child that has significant meaning, but this just doesn't sound like a name. But, you're the parents and you get naming rights so if you love it that's what's going to matter. What good is it if everyone else loves a name but you hate it? kwim?

I agree with what others have said... if YOU and your hubby love it... then go for it!!!!

I don't know that I would use "Prayer" but I love the other suggestions, esp. Hosanna Jubilee!!!

But we are naming our little girl Grace Elizabeth... simply for the meaning of the names being sooo true for who she is already. :D

Interesting - thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have looked at alot of names meaning Prayer, nothing speaks to me yet. I really like Prayer. I have so many names kickin about in my head ~ will soon see.. :-D approx 16ish weeks! :-D

I had never thought of "prayer" as a name but if it is something of meaning and worth to you then I would go for it even if it is unusual. Especially if it is a middle name it isn't used as much anyway. I have never heard of the name Calico, what does it mean? I like Ezekiel.

Really we just love the sound of Calico. It's meaning is sort of all over the place. Type of cloth, brightly patterned - different, place in India, mountains in the US, cottage in Britain, pattern on a cat. :-D

I am usually not into "different" names, but I do like Calico Prayer. For Ezekiel I think I'd use a different middle name that meant prayer, like Saul (prayed for or requested) or Samuel (heard or asked of God).
