Even though spring is almost here I feel like colds are going around! I am coming down with something right now and I dont want to give it to anyone else. I am cleaning my house and sanitizing the kitchen, bathroom, ect. I'm also going to grab a couple of Kleenex Anti-Viral tissue for when a sneezing fit comes on, since it kills 99.9% of germs in the tissue.

Any other tips for keeping your home germ-free?

Make sure everyone keeps up with handwashing. Also I will go around and disinfect door knobs, light switches, tv remotes, phone, etc. those things that you don't really think about cleaning but get touched so much.

I'm not a germaphobe kind of person, but I will occasionally do the doorknobs and light switches thing. Lysol (or Clorox) wipes are great for this. As well as the phones, keyboards, remotes.

Thanks for all the tips! Yes hand washing is key, and using disinfecting wipes is helpful too. I'm also armed with the anti-viral Kleenex so I dont have to worry about dirty tissues lying around. I am just ready for spring to be here already!!

I do not go over board on germ busting as some germs are good to help build an immune to. What I tend to do, if some one has been ill then I will germ bust to stop it going around the house. It does not always work though, some germs are air born and hard to kill.

I agree with the hand washing, something that need looking at in here. Bed sheets and towels I will sometimes wash on a higher setting, that way it kills any germs that may have got on them. (bedding esp if some one has had a cold)

Isopropyl takes ten seconds to kill most germs as opposed to however many minutes bleach takes; though, I looooove the smell of a freshly bleached kitchen or bathroom. Something about *that* smell means "clean" to me. Anyways... so I'll use a rag, some isopropyl or put the iso in a spray bottle and use it on doorknobs, potty seats, faucets, you get the idea. Things that are touched a lot.

Also... the Lamp Berger used to be used in hospitals because it puts iso in the air to kill germs, we've used that since we got married and it works well. You can pick up a cheap Lamp Berger for under twenty bucks and use straight 91% iso in it, or you can use their stuff that's really expensive, but we've always just used iso. I like to use it when we've had the same cold for a while, or someone has a serious illness that I don't want to spread too much in the family... it seems to do the trick.

BUT, being sick is how we get immunity.... sooooooo... I don't do it too often. Having five kids, I actually like them all to get the "big bad thing" that's going around, be done with it... we rarely get sick because I don't go nuts about keeping the house like a "clean room". Hope you feel better soon!

HA! I soooooo know what you're talking about there!!! Hehehehe... either a twin will walk through smelling like death, trash will get stinky for some odd reason, or the cat will poop in his box... go figure. ::snort::

OH man, YES the cat! We've not had a cat or box in years now, but I know what you're talking about. It's like the cat says...ooo what's that smell? Freshness! Aaah...I must thwart their froo froo clean plans.
It's usually right after the box has been cleaned too. 'oooo clean box, must. go. poop.' LMHO

Ok, sorry, kinda derailed things here

Yuh, but it's sickening true. Before I even FINISH cleaning the box... he's jumping in there, sniffing around, probably thinking, "This doesn't *smell* like ME!!!" Ugh... ::shakes head::

YES! (again) That is so what one of our cats did when we lived in KY. He was very particular about his box, but we DID keep on top of it. But as soon as it was fresh...oh man..he barely let us get out of his way *sigh* Stoopid animal :p
