No, I'm not TTC, just have lots of preggo friends currently and am curious......[whatthink]

I've heard some people say you can "try" for a boy or a girl. I've heard theories about timing, positions, etc. One theory is using ovulation predictors, which is what we used to get preg. both times. The idea being.....if you see a faint line on your ov. predictor indicating you'd be ovulating in the next day or so, you WOULD bd that day (and then NO bd for a few days after) if you wanted a GIRL, since girl sperm supposedly swim slower but live longer. If you wanted a boy, you would definitely abstain for a day and THEN bd, so that the boy sperm would for sure have an egg and would get there first.

Has anyone tried this or any other method of having a specific gender?

Well, my girl was conceived from BD about 3-5 days before ovulation and my boy was conceived from BD right around ovulation. So according to my kids, the theory would be right. But then there are critics who say that the theory is completely wrong. So who knows?

The problem that I could see is if someone got in their mind that they had to have a specific gender and wouldn't be happy with the other one. The only foolproof method of getting one or the other is probably combining the sperm and egg in a petri dish.

Ditto Ruth.

I *knew* we had a girl when we bd a few days before ovulation. My boys were all smack at O day.

Also dittoing Ruth's 'problem' mentioned.

:)

Sorry that's all for post here this morning...kids need me. And...I should be reading...I jumped on to see if I even had internet this morning and do my library list. :p
