Oh no! My beautiful little newborn baby has a very bad case of 'baby acne' all over her face. From doing a bit of reading on it it seems that she probably has a common problem called miliaria - they don't recommend any treatment for this (except antibiotic cream if it gets infected). I think it is related to the terrible humidity that we have had here lately. I'm really frustrated that it just seems to be getting worse and there isn't really anything that I can do about it. It just looks so nasty (just like a very bad case of acne) - but I am told that it probably won't be bothering her at all. I am a little worried that it may cause scars because it is so inflamed. Has anyone else had a baby with this problem? How long did it last?

Oh, isn't it so sad when that happens? My kids all had at least a few pimples when they were newborns. I think it's called milia. Does that sound right? Anyway, it never lasted long (less than two weeks, I think), and I did use Neosporin. I used to wonder if it hurt them, too. Hang in there, mommy. It'll soon pass. [hug]

My 3rd son was born in May and it was really hot and humid that summer( we had 100 degree temperatures in the beginning of May just before he was born) He had a horrible case too. I remember sitting and looking at his angry, hot blemishes while he nursed and wished I could DO something about it. :? But it didn't matter what I tried. Even went to the doctor, but nothing worked. Their pores clog easily as all their systems like sweat glands etc..aren't working so well yet. In time it will go away. But I remember how bothersome it can be! [hug]

Maddy was born in June, and had that all over her face...it cleared up in about 2 months ('cause it was summer it took so long). Now her skin is beautiful...no scars or anything...just don't pick at them. That's pretty much the only way that they are going to bother her and possibly scar! :)
