I have a question about temping vaginally. I tried it out this morning (very weird at first, by the way) and I had different temps in one sitting... I thought it would be more accurate than oral temping but so far I'm not impressed. Did you find that it was more accurate by far or just marginally?

I've never tried it that way, but I think Ruth has, so she will probably have some tips when she sees this. I think it is cute that Tara is the carseat lady and Ruth is the NFP lady.

mine was different as far as, if I got up and forgot to temp I could take my temp vag without any change. I found that if I did it orally there was a change and not accurate temp.
Mine was just a little different, but like I said it didn't shift as quickly.

But did you ever Temp more than once in one sitting and get different temps? Or did you always go with the first temp you got?

I have and yes, I always go with the first one. Once your heart rate picks up your temp starts to drop.
but i dunno

I found that vaginal temping was just fine. It gave me very readable charts and very good looking thermal shifts. It is said to be more accurate than oral temping.

It is good to use if you are a mouth breather. In my case, my oral temps were so low that they would go off the chart, so I used vag. temping because they were higher and would normally stay on the chart.

In any event, don't switch temp taking methods in the middle of the cycle or you will really have a wonky looking chart. If you want to switch, do so the first day of your cycle.

There's no need to take your temp multiple times. Just use the first reading. Especially if you moved around after your first reading.

Blessings!

Thanks Ruth~ I did start day 1 of this cycle doing the Vag temping. My temps are still a little wonky... but just slightly... and it could be perfectly normal and I'm just not familiar enough with charting to know it. Ya know? Thanks for all the info gals!
