Tonight at our school's Family Reading Night they gave us a list of websites that encourage reading. Some of these sites even read the books to your child. They are really neat! I love the www.storylineonline.com because actors actually read the stories. Starfall.com is a popular site as well.

Here's a list:

www.starfall.com
www.storylineonline.net
www.tumblebooks.com
www.kidbibs.com
www.kidport.com

That sounds like a much less expensive alternative to the LEAPPAD learning book we have purchased for the twins. The book cartridges are 29.00 each BOY!

However, the kids do enjoy the hand on factor of holding the leappad pen etc.

How interactive are the websites?

Thank you for sharing these! Great ideas! Just a quick question. . . When did most of you, with children that are a bit older than mine, introduce them to the computer?

Actually my kids used to sit on my lap when I was on the computer as soon as they could sit up. They just kind of grew up using them and were very computer literate at a young age :D . Stephanie :D

DITTO on the first part.

Second, David started early. I love steph's answer, cause that's pretty much the story with mine as well. He now loves to play on www.noggin.com. I leave my computer on that site every morning for him.
