Well, I know that I said that I wasn't really TTC but I wasn't preventing either. Last night AF showed up and it wasn't until that happened that I figured out how really disappointed DH and I are. I guess I need help on the whole charting thing because we are officially TTC now.

[rofl] Yeah, the whole "not preventing, not trying thing" doesn't always last long. Hehe.
If you really want to understand charting, you could go sign up for an NFP class in your area. Second best, you could go check out a copy of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler (sp?) from your library.
The main thing is daily mucus observations and temps. Pick one temp method and stick to it. Most do it orally. I prefer vaginally. If you are a mouth breather or have other issues, vaginal might be best. I personally like vaginal temps, because my oral temps are lower so they tend to go off the chart. Oral seems to produce pretty good results for most women. Just remember to pick one method and stick with it throughout the whole cycle, so that your temp rise pattern will make sense. Take it at a consistent time each day and write it down. If you are more than a half hour off, mark it as a disturbance and don't count that temperature.
Mucus: Each time you wipe at the bathroom, examine the tissue. Is there nothing there? Is there a creamy fluid? Is there a watery stretchy fluid? Is it extremely stretchy? Do you see nothing, but feel a wet sensation as you are walking around during the day? You can actually feel mucus BEFORE you can see it, so sensations are a very important part of charting. All mucus is potentially fertile, that is, can help sperm survive until ovulation. When you are dry, sperm die within a short time after intercourse.
At the end of the day, write down the most fertile thing you saw. If it was nothing, then write nothing. If you had some creamy mucus and some extremely stretchy, you record the most fertile, which is the stretchy.
And at the end, charting won't do you any good, if you're not having some fun with hubby on the right days, SO....when your mucus becomes wet, watery, creamy, stretchy, the most important thing to do is BD! LOL. Until your temperature has been high for 3 full days and your mucus has dried up, take advantage of those days.
I hope that this explanation made sense. Please feel free to ask questions if it didn't and have fun trying for a baby! ;) I'm a little jealous, as I loved being pregnant this last time. :D
I sure am sorry to hear that! I understand about not preventing not trying... that's how this bout of TTC started~ ;) Hope you get your BFP soon, hun!
