As the story goes, a tired, overworked mom was preparing pancakes for her two sons, John, five, and Alexander, three. While she worked feverishly over the hot griddle, the boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
In an effort to calm the turbulent waters, she wiped her hands on her apron and launched into a dialogue that she hoped would teach the boys a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here," she began "he would say, 'Let my brother have the first pancake. I can wait.'"
John quickly turned to his younger brother and said, "Okay, Alexander, you be Jesus!"
