More technical shots:
The back is nice and sturdy.

I am very happy with the feel, look and fit of this seat. We've yet to take a real test drive. But she's excited about it and loves the seat. Red and black is AWESOME! :p
gamommyto4girls 03-27-2009, 01:16 PM Very cool! Thanks for all of the great pics. Definitely looks like a super cool and well made seat :-).
Oooo, looks very nice!:-D
~Tara~ 03-27-2009, 01:32 PM Oh...and I think the headrest is up a click too high for her. I need to double check that when she rides in it.
Boo now rides in the back seat in the tan Radian. He thinks that's cool too. Though couldn't understand why his blue seat wasn't in his spot anymore :p I kept telling him to crawl back to the other one, I had to check the straps on him...he just kept looking over at the 'discarded' blue seat with a confused look on his face...'just go'..and he'd look again hehe
Man, I can't believe 3 Britax and down/gone now *sniff*
savedbygrace 03-27-2009, 03:17 PM very nice. what kind of car do you have and how many car/booster seats fit ?
~Tara~ 03-27-2009, 03:46 PM We have a Ford Expedition, 8 seater. 4 shoulder belts in the back two seats, lap only belts in both center positions.
I have had each spot filled with a car seat, yep, 6 seats of some kind. At that time it was 3 belt positioning boosters, 1 forward facing convertible, a rear facing convertible and the rear facing infant seat. We did away w/Eldest's booster shortly after Warrior was born. (I think :p)
So now I have 2 Britax Parkway boosters flanking a forward facing Radian in the 3rd row. The middle row has Doodles' Recaro driver's side outboard, Warrior's rear facing Radian in the center then Eldest in belt only, passenger side outboard.
Tara, how old should they be when they go in a booster? Or is it just down to weight limit? Like, waiting until your child hits the maximum weight limit for their forward facing seat then changing them to their booster. Also, do you consider height a factor when deciding when to put them in a booster. Not that I'll be putting Abby into a booster anytime soon as she just turned 3 so we have a while yet, but just wondered for when the time comes ya know:-D
ETA: When I say booster I mean a seat like you just got for doodles. Not the ones that are for older kidlets.
Cheeseburger 03-27-2009, 05:46 PM Wow, that looks like a seat out of a race car!!
Madre 03-28-2009, 02:14 PM Wow, car seats have come a long way! :-D
~Tara~ 03-28-2009, 05:54 PM oh maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan
I had a nice little reply typed up here, then some little booger clicked me off at the power strip. LOL
Let's try again.........
Cheese...actually this seat is made by Recaro who specializes in race car seats. Yeah, they know a thing or two about vehicle safety ;)
Eva...
Ideally you would keep a child harnessed for as long as possible. Which is becoming more and more feasible with the higher harnessed weight seats. (First Years TrueFit that goes to 55#, Britax Marathon/Boulevard/Decathalon and Graco Nautilus that go to 65#, Sunshine Kids Radian and Britax Regent which go to 80#, to name a few)
Age 5 is really the minimum age for a belt positioning booster. It isn't until that age that a child is mature enough to sit in the seat properly, each time, for the duration of the ride. And just because they are 5 does not mean they automatically ARE mature enough for it. You may have a wiggly 7 yr old who would be better off harnessed, no matter if he weighed 50 or 60#. However if you have a 40# 6 yr old, I'd keep them harnessed, because of their small size.
5yr AND 50# is my personal requirement.
Does that help? :)
PianoMama 03-28-2009, 06:32 PM Thanks for the pics! Nice to know that they do actually make race cars and car seats! ha! Does it turn into a backless booster eventually?
~Tara~ 03-28-2009, 08:09 PM No, this one does not convert to a backless booster. High back only, with 3 recline positions to better fit your vehicle.
