Has anyone used a kiddopotamus snuzzler in a carseat? Did it work better or worse than the average everyday headhugger for you?

We have an ordinary headhugger but i didn't think it supported enough for a newborn.

Here is a link: http://www.kiddopotamus.com/p_snuzz.php

That looks like a nice comfy thing. I agree that those other neck support things are a joke. DD was never supported by hers, so a friend who use to work at Babies R Us recommended this for us....and we and a friend who borrowed them loved them!!!

that looks fabulous. We had a nice one for the head, but it didn't have the arm and leg wings like that one. we had to use rolled blankets

Ok, I have to put on my CPS advocate hat here...

These types of products may or may not be safe for use in car seats. They may interfere with the proper restraining of the child. These fall into the 'possibly dangerous after market product' category. Which means, your car seat was not tested while using these 'add ons' Therefore, should you be in an accident and something happen (the seat not protect the child) while you have used said add ons, the car seat company is not liable. You void any car seat warranty/liability by using unapproved (for your particular car seat) after market products.

Ok, hat removed with the final statement of "use at your own risk"

Oh Tara,

Good thinking! Thank you! Sometimes it's hard to think about all of these things.

yeah and it's so easy to just think...well the products are being made, so it's all safe, right?

but not necessarily so

the products don't have to be tested, apparently, as they are not safety products So even though they are marketed for use with safety products, they are not tested in accordance with such

I'd use the Snuzzler in a stroller though, I'd have no concerns, personally, with that :)

huh interesting thoughts Tara! on the page it said they were crash tested for safety, and that it doesn't have padding behind the baby just around it so you can still strap them in tight... does that make a difference? when they say crash tested does that mean like official or that they went and crashed a car so they could say OK it's been tested? I mean how can you tell?

hmm
I'll do some research on that
See if I can get some solid answers for ya, k?

It *sounds* like it could be ok as long as nothing is behind the baby, nothing interfering with straps
And 'crash tested' should mean something official ;) But, who knows exactly what their idea of 'crash tested' is hehe

I'll look into it, see what I can find out though. Try to get some solid answer for everyone.

thanks for looking out for us Tara! I certainly didn't mean to post anything that could be dangerous for our babies  but you just never know these days...

oh absolutely
I know this type of product is often overlooked/not given a second thought regarding safety
I still don't have any info to report, I didn't get around to it yesterday, sorry

Ok, my certified tech friends say :

"Nope, not safe. There should never be anything between Baby and the seat.

"Crash tested" means nothing. They could throw it against the wall and call it crash tested."
