School will start in only a few short weeks. With five kids to buy school supplies, shoes and clothes for, I am at my wit's end. Are there suggestions from other large families that could possibly work for us? The kids range in age from 6 to 15.
ANSWER FROM READER:
We have always had good luck with products by Mead® and to also be high quality to last all year. The kids love the varieties that Trapper Keeper® provides. This year, the Snapper Trapper™ has been redone in almost like an 80's theme with bold, fun patterns. Having sturdy notebooks is always great when you have several kids because they can be passed down each year. We also found the new locker accessories by Five Star™ to help get them organized to be easily installed anywhere, but especially inside locker doors. They have removable mirrors, pockets, a board and dry eraser for quick notes or reminders. My 15-year-old twins love these. - Jay and Melany Willson in Chicago, IL
Some other things that you may want to consider include the Dotmine Day Planners for both you and the kids. It will help immensely in keeping everyone's schedules and activities in order and save your sanity to boot. I really like the fact that it is a 17-month planner as well. This way, you don't have to worry about buying a new one every year and losing important info that you may want to transfer from one to another. See www.timemine.com for more details. For the girls, Dragonwing Girlgear is making big changes with their new fabrics in undergarments and sportswear, which provide UV 50 protection. Garments are for girls of all ages and have a moisture-wicking feature which is actually a part of the fabric instead of a topical treatment. This is great because it will not wear or wash away in the laundry machine. Check out www.dragonwinggirl.comfor more information, color and styles. For inside their lunchbox or backpack, try the Little Me Tea selection. It's yummy, caffeine-free organic tea in flavors that everyone likes. It contains veggies and fruits with very low sugar. You can find it at Whole Foods and Central Market throughout the United States. Visit www.littlemetea.com to read more about it. They also have a selection of tea for adults. Another item to take into consideration for the kids is good shoes, whether it's sneakers or everyday fashionable wear. Be sure that they are properly fitted, sturdy and comfortable for whatever activity or just for plain old walking around. Burlington Coat Factory has just about every brand, size and style for great prices that will help ease your pocket book. Remember, if the shoes are washable, do so following instructions and air dry them as opposed to putting them in the dryer. They look better and last much longer.
CAN YOU HELP?
My kids are constantly using hand sanitizers. However, I have noticed that their fingers and hands get dry and sometimes peel during the winter. Are there ones that have cleaning additives but also contain some type of moisturizers that really work?
