I have three baby showers to go to soon. Two are in mid-November and one is in the second week of December. These are my three best friends and I would really like to find some awesome and unique baby gifts. Please send me some unusual ideas but also ones that they can actually get some great use out of, maybe even after the baby gets older.
ANSWER FROM READER:
One of the best baby shower gifts I received last year was a one-year supply of diapers. At first, I thought it was the individual just being cheap. However, I soon learned that it was absolutely wonderful and saved my husband and I a ton of money. - B. N. B. in Portland, OR
The main thing you want to consider for whatever merchandise you decide on: be sure that it is well-made. There is nothing worse to buy what looks like an adorable outfit, blanket or whatever, just to hear later that it fell apart in the first few weeks. From toys to diaper bags, washable fabrics are much appreciated. To ensure this type of guarantee is in place, there should be info on the item or packaging. Also be mindful that the store has the same type of assurance and don't forget to keep the receipt. You might consider going in on a pricier item with one or more friends. For example, if the mom-to-be needs a crib, changing table, stroller or whatever, maybe you and four or five of your friends can pitch in together and get a well-known, highly reputable product. Many of these will have a plan or accessories included that makes it easy to adjust to the growth of the child, becoming larger, sturdier and/or somehow different. Do not assume that these are available just because the price is higher than normal. You will need to ask the salesperson or the manager or simply do the legwork online to research your gift. In fact, in a quality store, they should have someone on hand to show you exactly how it changes as the baby grows. There are also companies that provide a wonderful selection of amazing gift ideas online. See www.cornerstorkbabygifts.com for unique apparel, toys and much more, including a birthday club. *You can also find about anything on Amazon.com.
CAN YOU HELP?
Once again my family and friends are stumped as to what to buy for Christmas presents. There's so much on TV and radio and in magazines... we don't know where to turn. We've divided into groups and voted on a head support person for the kids, which range in age from newborn to age eighteen. We hope you can also help us in our search for that special gift, especially since we have such a wide range of ages. Of course, there's the older crowd of parents, grandparents, spouses, uncles and aunts, plus older college kids too. Help!
